My name is Valerie and if nothing goes wrong I hope to have weight loss surgery in the next few months.  I have two more meetings with the dietitian and then I guess things will start rolling...once the insurance gives the okay that is.  I'm 54 and I've wasted most of my adult life being over weight.  I've used every diet I could afford to use....and if I'd had the money I'd have wasted it trying the ones I couldn't afford.  Diets don't work...and I can't believe how long it took me to realize it.

I have five grown children and eight grandchildren.  My deepest regret is that my children have never seen me slim....except in pictures.  I'm excited and a little scared about this surgery...mostly excited...thinking of what this could mean to my life....like I could actually have one.
