morning all

Momsy so good to see you!   And Diane how are You doing?  Safe journey to the travellers!

the sugar free great question and I line up with Kairk.  I endeavour to stay away from processed food, rarely eat out, and while am a lousy cook at least know what goes into the dishes.

However having said all of that yesterday ate two large cookies.     I was asked, at the last minute, to do a double shift, as one of my colleagues had been injured.   Normally I have tins of tuna/salmon stashed away but the cupboard was bare.

Life goes on and the sugar did not trigger a binge so that was good.

have a great new day!!

Hi Ho, Hi Ho......

Back at work today!  But, just for one week because LBL is scheduled for next Monday.  Is that really going to happen?  Hard to imagine.  Rented recliner arrives on Wed, maybe that will make it more tangible.

123.7 today.

I came across something yesterday day that I had forgotten....there was an observational study that noted that breast cancer recurrence is less if women fast for 13 hours.  It is just an observational study.   BUT I am still hoping it is enough to shift my brain into  thinking "I don't really want that" during those evening hours when my grazing is the worse.  Such an annoyance to have an on-point day dissolve in the last few hours before bed.

Hope all of you have a great day,

Shel

I sure can relate.  The evenings are the hardest, and too often, I'll give in and have a snack or a glass of wine, blowing the day for any weight loss! I hadn't heard the 13 hours of fasting part.  interesting.

Best wishes,

Carol

Thanks to both Kairk and Carbonated for thoughts on sugar-free. I avoid processed foods, as well. I also find I have to cook my own foods to eat healthy.  I'm pretty good at resisting the sugars, except for parties.  I'll often give in to the chocolate chip cookies or the fancy deserts if they are easily accessible.  I do have the discipline of not bringing them into my house, and not eating them at business meetings.  And the struggle continues!

Still hanging at 162.  I'd like to get to 160 before going into maintenance again, as I always jump up a few pounds when I loosen my restrictions.

Have a good day, everyone.

157.8#

I was in a real funk yesterday evening...The closer I get to vacation the more stressed I became about food.  I don't want to undo the work I've done to get to 157# and yet I feel like it's inevitable.  I have a plan in place and had a conversation with my fellow travelers about how I will be eating in the evenings.  They are good with whatever I need to do.  There is no pressure other than the pressure I put on myself.  So why am I fretting!  I guess because the past shows I do well for a few days and then throw caution to the wind.  I even thought about taking my scale but Andy frowned at that.  I just might pack it anyway!! That's my rambling for today!!!

Today I'm working out at the Y and have a session with my trainer.  Puttering around the house and starting to get things together for vacation.

Hang in there y'all.  As always, thanks for listening.

I've got a strategy for vacations that has been working pretty well for me.  I try to keep to plan until dinner, then I eat a late dinner.  At dinner, I eat dense protein first, and then allow myself to cheat with whatever space is left in my tummy.  breads, deserts, potatoes - whatever I want.  The dense protein helps limit the quantify for the cheats.

I find that I walk a lot when I'm traveling and that helps offset the extra calories.  I do gain some weight, but a lot of it is water weight from eating the carbs.  Of course, I get right back on plan when I get home.

Enjoy your vacation.  Do the best you can to eat well, and be gentle to yourself if you stray from plan. As long as you get back on track when you get home, you'll be fine.

Thank you, Carol!!!  We usually have a bigger lunch and then snack for dinner.  I plan to have healthy options around which has been my mistake in the past.  I'm going to do the best I can I will for sure get right back on it.  That is a big change from pre-VSG.  I'm doing a lot of things right.  We all are.  I need to focus on the positive.  I was having a moment!
