Fitful sleep tonight. So I decide to just get up and start the day early. I've been way to busy lately, may be paying for it with my sleep.

Past 2 weeks with Lots of travel lime with eating choice off plan. We usually eat what we want when we travel. Problem lately too many day trips. Yesterday was DW's Thursday she works in a warehouse that sends clothes medical equipment and school supplies to developing countries with her parents. A lot of sorting . My day to fill my mom's pill pack and run some errands. And completed both but didn't see my mom. She was in the building with her phone turned off. We talked on my way home. Picked up some parts for the little tractor and got them on with no improvement. Maybe I need to google it. If I can't get my tractor running maybe I will get some sheep. Then I can count them at night to improve my sleep.

Steps: wiring lights in conduit on the inside of the shop in the woods.

More later, David

I'm tickled to have dropped my vacation weight already, suggesting it was mostly water retention. This weekend I'll begin to gradually raise daily calories toward my normal maintenance levels of 1,700 - 1,750.

Tomorrow I'll join a 5K walk to support our local hospital. While I'm doing the 5K, hubby (who is in remission from non-Hodgkins lymphoma) will be having a PT scan to learn if any new tumors have developed. Our nerves are a bit twitchy, and our fingers and toes are all crossed.

Wishing for all a happy, productive and dry Friday!

I'm kind of mad at myself: weight 118.25, calories 2126. Ate off-plan all day then went out to dinner for an unplanned meal with friends. Add that to some non-bathroom days, and I'm up to a weight I haven't been at for 4 months. Back to austerity today!

David, while you are filling pill cases for your Mom, I've taken them over for DH, as well as putting reminders on my phone to have him take them. Too many misses lately. This progression of taking over driving, cooking, shopping, moving finances, etc. is giving me a flavor for the future. I hope it doesn't get to full dependency without DH being his essential self too fast. He doesn't read or watch TV anymore (unless I'm watching it), so he often just sits doing nothing but snoozing or staring (though he does listen to music a lot). I find him kind of following me around already, which feels a little intrusive, but I have to get used to it. It is hard to have my partner who was such a dominant/dynamic person change like this. But I feel guilty when I get impatient, irritated or annoyed. Interesting thing: he seems to be accepting of not driving even though he hasn't had the driving evaluation yet (scheduled for 5/11). A piece of me wants to cancel it and save the time and money, but I feel like it may be worthwhile if he tries to drive later. I can show him that it wasn't my decision. Before you ask, we are meeting with the local Alzheimer's support organization next week to talk about services/support groups we can start hooking up with.

Liz, when Joey gets through with my fairy godmother wand, she should hand it to you. I feel so deeply what you're going through. Hubby and I cared for my mother who had Alzheimers in our home for 8 years. Then she lived another 4 years at a nearby nursing home.

You're wise to be transparent about your feelings. Based on my 12 years of experience with Alzheimers this is a tough gig. The resources you marshal to support youself and your husband can make all the difference in the world. I know you know this, but I'll say it anyway: What works now won't always work. You'll have to find new ways to manage your husband's care -- probably several times.

If you ever want to talk directly, just PM me. Would be glad to just listen or offer any input based on my experience.

I will share.

I do have it easy in the scope of dependance vs independence. My mom is in a community / assisted living center. They keep her busy and take her where she needs to go. She is very social. I will most likely care for her if she needs it and will have it. That is one reason we kept our house. I try and stay on top of the medical and my brother does the finances.

Alzheimer's is such a thief of a disease process. It doesn't just steal from the one who has it but everyone connected. I'm glad you have a support organization.

Best wishes.
