Weight 116.4, calories 1709. Choices were good yesterday until I ate THREE cupcakes after our company left. It is just luck that my weight isn't up (yet). The remainder are out in the trash bin waiting to be picked up.

Yesterday I took a walk with my second cup of coffee (then dropped off the cup and continued). I'm going to try to repeat that daily as it is the best time of the day for walking here. I also need to add in some arm and core strengthening. Hopefully I can get a good routine going. I did discover yesterday that I can do about 15 push-ups (on the floor with knees down). I can feel them in my arms today but my shoulders are fine (I had worried that it would hurt them but the physical therapist the other night said that the motion did not cause rotator cuff issues).

Have a whopping Wednesday!

Good Morning, Mates!

I pulled myself away from youdidwhatwithyourweiner.com to post. Now that's a name that makes you pause before click! I found it when I searched to see if my planned hike is dog friendly. (It is)

Sun is forecast! I am skeptical. A patient that just moved out here asked me about Mt Rainier as in "Where is Mt Rainier?" I pointed out a window and he was so cute squinting, willing it into view. Welcome to the PNW. You will see Mt Rainier when Mother Nature is good and ready. It might be May. Or it might be today. Not knowing makes it all the sweeter when it does happen.

I am grateful that our wildfires our over and sorry they still burn in CA.

Ann and DH, you two are better prepared to start chemo than anyone I know. Godspeed.

Liz, good for you getting physical!

Peace and Hope,

Shel

I got a good giggle out of that web address. My inner 13 year old is alive and well!

I think I'm retaining fluid from flying and walking around NYC so much.

We had a good trip...but...without trying to complain too much, I will say that NYC at Christmastime isn't a great pregnancy destination. I do like more "active" vacations in general (of the museum, show, architecture type, not necessarily the climbing/hiking type) but I totally underestimated the toll that would take. Not to mention the crowds in NYC at Christmastime make everything take 3 times as long. We walked over 20,000 steps each day (when I normally in my sedentary life am lucky to get 4000 on an average weekday). But we did get to do some fabulous thing like see Hello Dolly starring Bette Midler, eat at Shake Shack, visit the Museum of Natural History (gems and rocks exhibit is under renovation until Fall 2019....sad DH), enjoy a cozy respite at Tavern on the Green, pedicab through Central Park, visit window displays on 5th avenue, Pass the Rockefeller tree multiple times, see the statue of liberty, Wall Street, 9-11 Memorial, walk the Brooklyn Bridge, see the Rockettes Spectacular, and eat at a bistro dedicated to Josephine Baker (with a great vibe and great live music!).

I am up in weight but I really don't feel I overindulged. I'm sure part of that is owing to travel/walking, and some is due to ahem bathroom issues when traveling.

I need to catch up with everyone on the thread!

Tonight we aim to decorate the big Christmas Tree so we can put away the boxes and just enjoy for awhile. HOw is it already December 6?!!

LOL! No wonder you're tired! You did MOST of New York City all in one day. LOL!

That's why you have to go back and back and back to NYC -- it's a huge destination.

Respect!

Yesterday's V/Fs were good ones: yellow/orange/red sweet mini-peppers, mushrooms, romaine lettuce (I made that grilled peppers southwestern chicken bowl yesterday - we both loved it!), plantains, black beans, chard/kale/spinach, and red seedless grapes. All good stuff!

Today's hubby's first day at chemo -- for the third time, so he knows and fears what's ahead. This morning I watched him walk down the steps toward his truck, going so slowly, bent but braced, but full of dread. It breaks my heart that he has to endure this. I hope that the "not so hard on his body" promise of this particular chemo Rx proves to be true.

P.S. Thanks, Shel, for the confidence in our preparedness for hubby's chemo. But as you well know, this is so very hard.

Whenever my colleagues disparage Benzos, I think of how lovely lorazepam was during treatment. I'm not saying that DH should be using it or anything like that, just acknowledging how hard it is, starting with that awful anticipatory dread.

Yes, they gave him Ativan the first two times through chemo, so I expect he'll come home with a script for it again. Thanks for the endorsement. ;) I'll share your thoughts with him, too. xoxo

Not a bad idea. When my daughter had her second round of chemo she would sometimes get sick in the waiting room (in anticipation).
