WOW Hala!  was just diagnosed with adrenal fatigue myself... I feel terrible, my mid-section has gotten "puffy" and of course I've gained weight! My Dr. only put me on adrenal gland supplementation and he suspects low thyroid. I feel like a mess. I hope you get to feeling better and if you have any tips for me please share.

I'm not a big fan of the almond either and only bought it because I got it on sale for $1.99, But I love the almond coconut milk it has a sweeter taste to it. I can only find it at Smith's here which is Kroger. You should give it a try!

I came across this page when I was going through my WLS guidelines book last night. I like to look through it sometimes just to give myself an extra boost. Just thought I'd share.

1. Protein- you must get 60-75 grams of protein every day for the rest of your life.

2. Fluids- 60 oz./day We underestimate our need for fluids. Dehydration can cause dizziness, lightheadedness, bladder infections and headaches.

3. Exercise- Find a way to bring exercise into your life. Exercise will you to have the best overall results from this surgery. Make it fun.

4. Vitamins-patient must take multivitamin with iron, vitamin b12 and calcium. Patients who do not take their vitamins will develop a vitamin deficiency within a year.

5. No grazing and No sugar- Eat three meals plus three snacks a day. Make the commitment to stay away from sugar

6.Folow up- Follow up is essential.

7. Positive Attitude- Know that not every day is going to be a great day. There is a huge learning curve after this surgery. Be as compliant as possible and follow your guidelines and that things will get easier. Use your support system.

Good morning Botts. I am glad that today is Sunday, a new day and a new week. I am starting new today! Quite frankly I am tired of starting over so I am going to try really hard to stay on trac****il I accomplish my goal. For some reason lately I have been having sugar drops,I had one at 2:30 in the morning last night. That is the worst feeling in the world to me. I will also be walking today for atleast 30 minutes. I hope everyone has a good day.

S: SF jello

D:either a salad w/ chicken breasts or another shake.

Thank you for the reply Staphanie. Why do they treat the adrenal glands with steroids? Did the steroids help you? The Dr. I am seeing likes to treat with natural medicines whatever that turns out to be I don't know. all I do know is that I just want to feel better!

Good morning Tess and Botter's. I still have been doing ok with my eats just haven't started back exercising yet, that will start  today! I went to  a hormone specialist last week and he is going to be doing some blood tests and saliva test to find out why I feel so "out of whack" It will be a few weeks before I know anything, he suspects my adrenal glands. I pray everything turns out ok. My eats for today are:

B: Light n' fit yogurt.

S: protein bar

L: string cheese w/almonds possibly 1/2 a grape fruit

S: sunflower seeds and 1/2 apple w/pb

D: chicken breast w/ cucumbers

S: sf choc pudding.

Hi Botts! I have been here lurking and not posting as Iv'e been tracking my food and trying to see what I'm doing wrong. Well after a few days of honestly tracking I have found that I am WAY over on calories.  I'm at about 1,600-1,800 calories a day and no I'm not eating BIG meals I'm just eating/ GRAZING way too often! And No I'm not doing any vigorous exercise to burn those calories.... So today I did alot better, not perfect but I did make sure it was a meal or snack time before I put anything in my mouth besides water of coffee.

B: EAS shake

S: nonfat latte/1 choc truffle

L: 2 boiled eggs w/3 cheese crackers

S: 1/4 of an atkins pb protein bar

D: 1 chicken leg w/1/4 cup of mixed veggies

S: if needed sf jello cup.

Tess you should try baked snap peas, they are delicious and crunchy for when you need that "chip" effect. They are by the lettuce in produce. I'll post my eats later.

Why is it that I feel like everything around me has to be perfect and in control in order to get my eating in control? Here goes for today. I am here again today and WILL NOT give up. I am going to really focus on protein this week I know I can do this,  have done it before... My starting weight was 278 pounds and my lowest was 140, I know it can be done and I can conquer 10 pounds.... Thanks for all the support.

Tess since you are loving those vitatops here is a recipe for some home made ones. They are delicious to say the least!

IMO much better than the vitatops. Very simple to make too.

 

1 3/4 cup Oats
3 Egg whites
3/4 cup Unsweetened cocoa
1/2 cup Unsweetened applesauce
1 tsp Vanilla extract
1/2 cup Plain greek yogurt (or regular plain low fat yogurt)
1/2 tsp Cream of tartar (or 2 tsp. vinegar)
1 1/2 tsp Baking powder
1 1/2 tsp Baking soda
1/4 tsp Salt
1 cup Ho****er
1/2 cup Baking stevia OR 1 cup sweetener of choice that measures like sugar 1
1/2 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips
Tip Foil cupcake liners, remove the inner paper lining (because paper liners tend to stick to muffins!)

1 I used NuNaturals More Fiber Stevia Baking Blend. If using packets of stevia, I recommend using about 8-12, or adjust according to taste.

Nutrition Breakdown

 

12 Servings (bigger muffins)
95 Calories Per Serving
3 g Fat
23 g Carbohydrate
4 g Fiber
4 g Sugar
5 g Protein
3 WWP+*

*Weigh****chers Points per serving

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line 2 (12-cup) muffin pans with foil cupcake liners, or spray muffin tin with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.

In a blender, (or food processor), mix all of the ingredients together, except for the chocolate chips. Blend until oats are ground and mixture is smooth.

Place mixture in a bowl and gently stir in 1/2 of the chocolate chips (set the rest aside). Scoop mixture into prepared muffin pans.

Place muffins tins in the oven for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, remove muffins from the oven (but don’t shut oven off), and distribute the other half of the chocolate chips on top of each muffin.

Place the muffins back into the oven and bake for an additional 2-5 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

*Note, you could skip this step by putting all of the chips in the batter, and baking the muffins for 12-15 min straight, but this method gives the muffins the traditional ‘VitaTop Muffin’ look with the chocolate chips on top!

Cool muffins before removing from pan. ENJOY!!!

I am still struggling to be back on track BUT I will not give-up... Today I think I am going to do mostly protein shakes just to get my head straight. Sometimes I find food choices over whelming and that's what gets me...

Good Morning! I totally failed myself yesterday, I could not stop snacking and it wasn't good snacks either! But I ma trying to be here and be consistent to and for myself so today's eats.

You know Hala, I agree with you about drinking milk and the carbs in it. Iv'e even noticed that milk is a trigger food for me it makes me crave more sugar and carbs.

I had RNY 4 years ago. I too did very well and even went under. I have gained back 12 pounds as well and don't like it. I am going to tracking here every day and cut back, I think my issue  is that I worry about eating "enough" and I am eating too much in small amounts throughout the day. Protein forward will be my weapon.
