Surgeon Testimonial

Michael Baptista
I really like Dr. Baptista. He seems down to earth and let me know that he would make sure I was taken care of. He practices with Dr. Cywes, who also is very nice. They definitly take the approach that you have to work to lose weight, and will call you out on it if they believe that you are not behaving.

I can tell you that the office is very busy and it took a month to get into each appointment. They have a very structured program and expect you to follow it.

In the 2 teens!

Okay, so I actually made my goal of being under 220 for Christmas.  The week before Christmas I actually hit 218... then my parents visited and I made cookies and I started misbehaving.  So, I actually went to 220 again then fell to 218 again before new years.  So, I screwed up... I ate carbs.  I admit it.  But, I don't regret it.... because I am back on track now and I really didn't let things go too bad.

I have decided that my band feels much tighter when I am on my period.  I didn't get a fill at my visit in December but I was thinking of requesting a small fill at my next appointment, then my period visited me and I started PBing my meals and have been eating hardly anything to feel full. So, do I get a fill so I feel that way the rest of the month and risk not being able to eat at all while I am on my period?  I will have to discuss that with my doctor next week.

For Christmas my mom got me the Zumba DVD set and I love it.  My husband also went to Sams and bought me a cool treadmill with a tv in it.  I have promised myself that I will do the treadmill every day at least 30 minutes and my Zumba DVDs at least 5 days a week.  So far, so good.

I will at least post again in the next month... or when I hit under 210, which I hope isn't too long from now.

In the 220s!
on November 28, 2008 7:43 pm
Well I have dropped into the 220s in time for Thanksgiving.  I haven't seen the 230s on the scale for a week.  Hopefully I didn't put on any weight over the holiday since I didn allow myself to have a couple on no-count carb days. :)

I am hoping to be below 219 for Christmas.   :)

Exercise... exercise... exercise
on October 28, 2008 8:35 am
I have made a promise to myself to workout 4 hours every week.  I hate going to the gym. I hate the treadmill.  I hate sweating.   But, I also hate being fat and out of shape.

So, what am I doing at the gym?  I am doing water aerobics, Zumba, weights and walking/running on the treadmill. I actually have been doing 3 miles on the treadmill each time!

So, what are you doing to get your heart rate up?

In the 230s....finally
on October 27, 2008 10:55 am
Okay... I have been bouncing between the 240s and 230s for the past two weeks.  Finally I have stopped bouncing into the 240s.   For the past three days I have been firmly in the 230s.  Now I am boucing between 235 and 237.  Maybe I will actually be in the 220s by Thanksgiving.  Who knows... maybe I will be completely out of the 2's by Valentines Day.... a girl can dream, can't she?

First Fill!
on October 9, 2008 6:42 pm
I went in for my first fill.  Of course I got weighed and at first was a bit discouraged that I have only lost 4 more pounds since my one week post-op visit (which was three weeks ago).

I was worried that Dr. Baptista would be upset with me.  But, when he came in and looked at my weigh-ins he informed me that I had lost 10 pounds of fat since that appointment!  Wow!  He said I must have built muscle or be carrying extra water and that is why the scale wasn't showing it.  So, I am excited to say that I have lost 10 pounds of fat in only 3 weeks!

For the past two weeks I have been spending at least four hours a week working out at the gym... either on the treadmill, in Zumba class or water aerobics.

I am feeling pretty good.  My total fill is up to 5.5 now (apparently there was all ready 1.5 in there).

I will be on liquids for the next few days... I am looking forward to Monday when I can start to eat mushies again.  :)
