My 1st impression of Dr. Slotman was how friendly and easy going he was to talk to. He never made me feel like I was a fat person and in fact he made me blush becasue he told me how pretty I am and how great I will look. His Motto is "if you don't look good, I don't look good" =) I love that I chose him to work on me.

His staff is one in a million. Betty and Shirily are great women!

I felt 100% posative with my choice in Dr. Slotman.

I urge everyone to listen to every single thing this man tells you to do. You can only gain from this.

So sick...needing hospital stay...

I was admitted into the hospital today for low iron and my B12 was extremely low as well.
I had went to my ob/gyn for a routine check-up and bloodwork on June 26, 2008. My Dr. called me on the 30th frantic to reach me, I was at my uncle's funeral when I got the call, she wanted me to get to the ER as soon as possible, she feared I was going to pass out or worse.
So I left and went to the ER at the hospital my hubby works at. They drew my blood and my iron levels were 5!!!

They admitted me to the cardiac unit, in fear that if it dropped any lower I would go into heart failure. I was so scared! Further tests revealed that my B12 was almost non-exsistant! I was in the hospital for 2 1/2 days. I had 4 blood transfusions, 2 B12 injections, a HUGE amount of iron pills, and IV iron infused. My levels were 8.8 when I left. I have to have 4 more Iron IV infusions in the next 2 weeks. 2 next week, and 2 the following week. I need B12 shots for the next 2 weeks to get those levels up as well. I am taking iron 2 times a day now as well as 2 B12 sublinguals daily.
Now I will admit, because I felt SOOOOOO good about my weight loss, I neglected to get my lab work done,........... for the past 2 years!

Stupid, stupid me!! I will say this, it will NEVER happen again!
So I urge anyone and everyone, to please, please take your iron, B12, calcium, protien, and vitamins so very seriously! I was in deep and almost to the point of going into heart failure. Although I always felt fine, you cannot determine how sick you really are by what the scale is telling you!
So get those labs done! Get your supplements in! Be healthy! Be careful! I know I will be for here on out!

And of course, I have pics of me in the hospital, my darling daughter brought the camera and snapped some pics.

Edited to add:
They are saying my anemia is due to RNY as well as my heavy periods. So we are going to look at stopping my periods either by birth control pills, endometrial ablation, or Partial hysterectomy, or hysterectomy. They said I have no need for extra bleeding of any sort, since I already have my tubes tied, this just will lead to lowing my iron levels as well.

Tattoo bug hits again!! And Again!!!

I did it again! 2 days later!! I went and got Live. Laugh. Love added to my nape of my neck. Victor Keen at Ever after ink did this tattoo as well, he did my 3 L's as well. He touched up the L's because a few spots were needing a touch up. I got the 3 L's June 21, 2007, and the live. laugh. love on June 5, 2008, another one I just love so much!!!

New Tattoos!!! Yay!!!

I got 2 new tattoos! Both are Japanese Kanai symbols.
1 is on my left wrist and it means Dream, the other is on my right wrist and it means Gorgeous! I love them so much!

Jiffy Lube

I went to jiffy lube today for an oil change, I go into the waiting area where there is a woman sitting waiting as well. She asked me if I worked at walmart and i answered yes, she knew she recongized me. She then said that I looked amazing and just how much weight have I lost. I told her 183lbs and she asked how so i said that i had GBP almost 4 years ago. She said I look truely amazing and asked if it has been a hard road and i told her more mentally hard than physically but yes. She just told me god bless me on my journey and that she couldn't believe how wonderful I looked.

I called hubby right away, because alot of wow moments now are usually with family who don't see me often. But this totally made my day. It is nice to be complimented this far out and by a woman who only sees me at work none the less.

Just wanted to share.
