Hi my name is Bobby J, I wasn't always overweight but as I got older and slowed down with my activities but kept eating the same or more I became a very big man. I am truly thankful for having WLS because it is giving me back the quality of life I once enjoyed on a regular basis. I look forward to meeting and sharing with other who have had WLS or planning to have it!!! Take care and thanks for stopping by!!!!
My Story My story is not the usual one, I wasn't an overweight kid I was a kid who was in great shape. I was in the United States Marine Corp Reserves and when I went to Boot Camp I weighed 226 and came home weighing 199. I never was a disciplined eater, heck I just ate cause I was so active it didn't matter. As my time in the Marines moved on I got heavier and heavier and though I was only in the reserves I was still put on Weight Control (Which didn't help cause I was around them for them to do anything about my eating) But I was still in good enuff shape to always past the PFT which was to run 3 miles in under 28 Minutes, do atleast 35 sit ups in under two minutes and 3 pull ups. But by the time I got out of the Marines in 92 I was somewhere between 260 and 270 still playing basketball alot but still eating whatever I wanted. So as time went on I got bigger and bigger. I remember playing in my last Gus Macker 3 on 3 tournament and I was probably around 290-300 lbs and that was about 5 yrs ago. Then I finally stopped playing basketball and then the weight really just came on like Gangbusters a few years ago I made my first real attempt at having WLS. I jumped thru all the hoops and even saw a pyschiatrist because it was required just to have my previous insurer deny me because they said I had never a doctor prescribed diet. I weighed 375 at that time and before I knew it I was 399 (Never got on a scale that said I was 400 or more it always was 399.6 or 399.2 and I consoled myself with well atleast I'm not 400 (Like 4 tenths of a lb made that much of a difference). So in 2006 we got a new insurance provider so one day in sept06 I was here at work and I just called the 800 number and spoke to a customer service rep and explained everything to her and she said that from what I told her she would find it very hard for not be be approved so I called the Barix Clinic and scheduled a new consultation, got approved and now I'm down to 256 and working to get down to a weigh I would be utterly pleased with which is anywhere between 220 and 230!!!!! |
