Sipping it slow
on June 10, 2011 1:58 pm
As I sit here, sipping my Crystal light (almost 2 liters) I am thinking:
1. I feel like I am going to float away
2. Why must I insist on drinking it all in 8 hours
3. When will this dang day end

I know this is all good for me, but my mood was much better than the frustration I was feeling earlier this week.  The scale moved in the right direction, which is good, but realizing I definitely need more protein in my diet.  That is my next agenda, work on my protein intake.

"new" to the group and hoping for VSG tips etc :)
on June 9, 2011 8:44 am

I had started this group some time ago, and had been in denial for a long time.  This time I am going this process with a vengence.  This time there are no excuses!  Last week I just started my pre op diet for VSG, and I have lost 5 lbs, but at a stand still. I am hoping to be able to learn more about post op, and general tips and guidelines you all may have for me.  I admit I am a foodie, but have begun journaling my life and working out my frustrations etc.  I now work hard on diverting my mind away from food

I would appreciate any and all info anyone would be able to give me.  And I am hoping this would be a better forum and more supportive than some other places I have been through. Just feeling a little frustrated.

Every journey begins with a step, and this is a step in the right direction.

My Story

I am a 38 yo woman, single, no kids and never married.  I realized that I am not getting any younger and that I need to take the bull by the horns so to speak.  Last year I was chronically sick with bronchitis, so prednisone was my "friend".  After 6 months of that, I was up over 300lbs.  I worked my fanny off over the last year to get that weight off, however now I am at 265.  (This was before I started the VSG pre op diet).  I am now down to 260, and waiting until the 20th to have my nurtition classes and my pre op eval.

This last weekend I went in and had all my blood work, EKG and my chest xray done.  Yeah, a couple of my labs were not so hot.  Nothing like putting reality in your face like that after being in denial for so long.  I wanted to try to lose the weight on my own, but now I realize I can not do it alone, I need medical intervention.

Here I am - hoping to gain experience and learn something from those of you who have had VSG and not feel oh so alone in this process.

Highest weight - 320
Lowest weight - 260
Current weight - 259 6/13/11
