Surgeon Testimonial

Hugh P. Babineau M.D.,F.A.C.S.
My first impression of Dr. Babineau was "Wow, he's young!" He's in his late thirties, like me. He's very quiet and somewhat shy, so you have to really have your questions ready, as he's not one of those doctors who just ramble on and on. He is VERY competent; I would venture to say he is one of the best bariatric surgeons, if not the best, in Texas.
His office staff is nice. Freda is amazing...she gets those approvals done when you don't even think it's possible. She answers as many questions as you can throw at her. She attends and leads every support group meeting. She's a HUGE asset to Dr. B's office. He does not want to lose her, trust me. :)
Aftercare is good....there is a monthly support group meeting at ETMC, and it is well attended, with Freda at the helm. I have learned so much there. I do think that waiting until we are over a month out to have our first follow up visit might be a little too long, so I can say that I would like to have been seen at two weeks out, just to calm my nerves and make sure nothing was going on with me.
Overall, I am so glad that I chose him, as I had a great experience before, during, and after my surgery!

Update :)
posted on 5/19/08 9:16 am
Shame on me for not updating since March!  Sorry about that; I know we need to keep going and encouraging each other, even when we're at goal.  I don't need to get lazy.

I had gotten lazy with my eating and drinking, I must admit, esp. in the past month.  I have seen a few pounds creep back on, but am back to doing the right stuff (following the pouch "rules") and it will come off again.  I am committed to doing this for the rest of my life, and I'm not going to freak out when I see the scale climb a bit.  I just jump back on the right track and get them off again.  I'm not going to do what I did presurgery, which is just give up.  No way!  I'm not going back there.  I have come too far, and I feel too good, to let those old habits rule over me again.

My husband has a lot of money saved for my plastic surgery to begin!  I have a consult with a doctor in Tyler in early June and hope to get into surgery by the end of June.  I want to start with an "upper arm lift" (brachioplasty) and breast lift and augmentation.  Then I'll decide on down the road if I want to do the lower body lift.  I'm not sure right now.  It is SO expensive.  I think the quote I got was $17,000.  That's unheard of, in my opinion!  The arms/breast work will come to about $11,000 with the surgeon in Tyler I am meeting with.
Truthfully, my arms and breasts are the things that bother me most, esp. like in a swimsuit.  My breasts are flat, saggy, and uneven, and that all shows through in a swimsuit.  I just won't wear one!  My arms are loose and the skin is wrinkly, and I want that tightened back up.  As they are now, I won't wear short sleeves, and certainly won't go sleeveless!  No way.  I want that freedom back.  My tummy def. needs work, don't get me wrong, but I can hide that pretty well in swimsuits and under clothes.  So if I get to do that someday, fine, but for now, I'd rather have the other done first.

I hope YOU'RE doing well!
