Surgeon Testimonial

Aurora Pryor
My surgeon has always kept me well-informed and has been patient with my questions, anxiety level and addressed my family as well.
The staff at Duke University WLS is superb. I have been well taken of there. I feel as if I have been their only WLS patient. I know this is surely not true! Their level of expertise is surely learned.

The thing I liked least is that I would have liked to have seen her more after surgery. I saw several other doctors from her office and under her supervision, but no one knew me like her, or at least I had the most comfort with her. I had some high blood pressure concerns and the attending physician cautiously monitored me. Literally, sitting at the foot of my bed in ICU. All of them took good care of me. However, this is my experience with most surgeons. You see them about once a day.

The Duke WLS aftercare program is extensive. It includes a dietician, nurse practioner and a psychiatrist specializing in bariatric/obesity issues. One must sign a contract to cooperate for a minimum of one year. I guess they come after you if you dont!!!

All surgery risks, complications and short/long term risks were addressed...one by one...in a small group meeting. Family was invited. The surgeon also informed us how many deaths were attached to each one, if any. Some people, like myself, are curious about this. Duke WLS has completed over 1400 bariatric surgeries. If interested, to this date, they have had a total of 4 deaths. God knows best for all of us.

Letter to Myself...
on November 22, 2006 1:17 pm
Dear NIA First we need to get some clarity on a few things. Your weight...yes, your phat booty is not, and has never been, who you are. I dont care what your Ex's told you. It aint so. Your booty is too limiting for what God has for you. You are not your looks. I dont care if you like them. I dont care if you hate them. Your smooth skin...Your wide nose (which has yet to lose a daym pound)...your full lips (Ex's and Big Daddy have plenty to say about that!) or even your hair (I DO have hair!) is not who you are.
You did not need India.Arie to tell you that. Let those who have never experienced it or have no knowledge of self...listen to her musical lyrics and wonder. You, on the other hand, need to listen to yourself. Dance and sing to your own tune Nia. Write the song for your life. And then live it, My Love. You are not your mother. Period. Moving on to the next relative. Whoever they are, you are not them either. You are brilliant. And no one else needs to know what. Just use it brilliantly and for the pleasure of your Lord. Otherwise, you will be a brilliant fool. You have value and it is not determined by other people. Not many will fully accept you for what you are truly worth anyway...even those who like you.
For what reason do you need affirmation of the capacity of your brain cells? You want to know what you can do? Challenge yourself. Take healthy risks. Work smart...not hard. Trust you...and you will amaze yourself, with God's help. Accept that you may never be rich with tangible items. You dont want for nothing. Good. You must be more than grateful for this gift. It means so much. You have been without sometimes, but not for a long time. God is good. AND you worked for the privilege.  But to whom much is given, much is required. So be careful what you ask for Baby Love. You have wealth. It may not have value at Bank of America. Yet, if you do right my love, you will be able to cash in your riches...God has a great return on His promise. He does not have interest fees. He does not have an overdraft fee. He pays as He says He will. Which of God's favors will you deny??? Come. Cash it in.
Your soul, enriched with humility, good deeds and submission to God, will be your greatest asset, in this life, and the next. Forgive yourself. I know some days you are so glad you legally changed your name. Me too. I know you have done things to be ashamed of. I know you have done things that you had forgotten about. I know there are people who you want to apologize to. I know that God reminds you of stuff you did that you had forgotten about. If God will keep your bid'ness a secret, well, why dont chu do the same?
Shut up. Dont forget. Learn from it. And forgive yourself for doing that to you.
You are so eager to forgive others. Try it on yourself and see what happens. You are OBESE. You are OBESE in spirit. You are OBESE with love. You are OBESE with integrity. You are OBESE in compassion. You are OBESE with gift giving. You are OBESE with humor. You are OBESE with self assessment. You are OBESE with intuition. You are OBESE with God's message. Be Phat with the love of God. Let these things weigh you down. The weight of this world is heavy and will lead to the hellfire. But it is nothing for God. Dont try to bear this burden alone. Take the tools He has granted you and MOVE through this earth. RUMMMMmmmble my child, like mountains. Rocks may roll from you, but you shall not be moved. Breathe. Pray.  Remember the grave. Cause one day, you will go. Go be obese.
Love, with all I have within me...

It's A New Day...Live it

   In The Name Of Allah

It is well over a year since I made my health a priority.  I look good. I feel even better. I will not be adding on and on to this post. If you need me, hit me on my laptop! Send me an email and I will holla.

I pray your Lord gives you the calmness of spirit and bestows the support and Love He has granted me and so many others. Stargazing  Some have opted for a similar path and others not. Whatever God has for you has your name engraved on it. Nothing can harm you or help you without His divine decree. Come to your blessings. I know my path is just that. Mine. And know it is paved in gold. Praise be to God.

I urge you to walk your own path. Walking  If you decide a dirt road will keep you focused, well then let the pebbles get stuck in your feet. If you decide you want a winding road, then be tarred and featherd. If you decide you want a swinging bridge, then come and sway.

Just do it. Life is not waiting for you. It is passing you by. Life waits for no one. Death awaits us all. Live while you can.

I leave you as I came...in peace.
