Surgeon Testimonial

T. Paul Singh, M.D.
Dr. Singh was amazing. Giving me more time than I could have imagined. He explained that doing the surgery on me would be no problem, however, he did express a great deal of concern about my history of dvt's & being coombs+. He scheduled a date for me, but will consult with my dr and the hematologist prior to my next meeting with him 12/4. He wants to plan a post operative plan for me with regard to my problems and potential complications.

I found him attentive and caring. He was very honest and sincere. I appreciate his preparing me for possibly not be able to have this surgery if no viable post operative plan can be safely arrived at.
Obviously he is concerned as much if not more about aftercare than the actual surgery. He truly earned my utmost respect.

His office person (Debbie) was friendly and warm. She gave me a list of a couple of things I need to provide and a number and invitation to call her if I needed anything else.

1/4/05 - Dr Singh said all is a go and is going to talk with hemotology and make a decision about filter. He will follow up (both had vacations during the holidays)with me if I need to have it done.

2/11/05 - Dr. Singh was so caring and wonderful throughout all of my complications. I am confident that all of the complications were just my body. Had I had a lesser surgeon I am not sure I would be here to tell about it.

Dr. Singh is caring, gives you all the time to answer questions. Explained everything to me and my family. Amazing to me was that when he wasn't in the hospital he was on the phone so often. He really kept on top of everything. I can not imagine the hours he must put in.

I love him, thank him and highly recommend him.

My husband, Jonathan and I went to see Mary J today. She is still in the hospital one week after her bypass surgery. She had some problems with blood clots in her stomach. This resulted in a couple of staples popping. Dr Singh had to do more surgery to fix the problem. She is still in ICU but as soon as they have a bed for her on the sixth floor she will move out of ICU. Her spirits are good. She would love to have some company. Mary tells me she expects to be out by Thursday. She hopes to stop down to the St Peter’s support group Tuesday night. She especially appreciated the well wishes from the group and all those who sent then via the Internet. Diana L

Post Plastic Surgery

Home from plastics. They were done on the 25th and 2 days later I am home and feeling well.

Amazing! Only took one pain pill because I was so tired. Didn't really bother with the pump. I am a bit uncomfortable but can't say I am in pain.

Most uncomfortable are the drain tubes in the pubic area. I had Procedure: Belt Lipectomy; Bilateral Mastopexy; Bilateral Brachioplasty in conjunction with insurance approved Panniculectomy.

My tummy, butt and outer thighs are so flat, underarms not waving and the incisions are so straight and thin. Have not seems the breats yet. He will remove those bandages on Tuesday.

Surgery went shorter than expected. 8 hours instead of 10.

I am tired and will write more when I can. Weight is up to 139.

Mary

Had a great day. Feel terrific and amazed at how well I am doing post plastic surgery. Washed my hair (boy did that feel great). Still a LITTLE uncomfortable but overall just tired and occassionally having trouble getting comfortable after doing a little to much.

I am feeling the swelling going down. My hands and feet look normal again. Am able to comfortably get my Wedding ring back on.

Fluid must be going as I lost 7 lbs since yesterday and am now 132.I am already lower than pre plastic surgery weight. However my Tummy is 9 inches larger with the swelling. I have never ever lost weight that quickly so it must be the water leaving me from all the IV's I had in the hospital.

1/31/06

Saw Dr. King today. He removed the left hip drain which is great because now I can sleep on my left side which is so much better than just my aching back.

I lost 2 of the gained inches on my waist so the swelling is definately going down. My weight was 131. WOOHOO Lowest yet.

Well we unveiled the boobs. Ahhhhh they are so cute. Perky as all hell and they look great. I am really anxious to see how they look when fully healed. Dr. King is so pleased with the way I am healing and how my body is taking form. My arms are absolutely incredible I am thrilled. The tummy/butt is still swollen but flat, again looking awesome. So far I am extremely pleased. When Bob gets home from work I am going to take a LONG warm shower. Can't wait.

I go back again on Friday and hopefully maybe more drains will be removed. I am glad I choose a surgeon who uses stitches rather than staples. The incisions are thin and not to bad looking. I will try to take some pics tonight AFTER I shower LOL.

Hugs to all

2/4/06

Drains were removed yesterday and the healing is great!

Interesting stats since day of plastic surgery
Day of Surgery Home from Hosp Today
Weight 133 139 127
Waist Measurement 28 39 35

Things are improving so nicely. Anxious for all the post operative swelling to be gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2/8/06

Weigt is down to 124. waist measurement is 32.5, 4, 5 more inches to get back to pre plastic surgery measurement. So the swelling is coming down nicely,

I am so pleased and can not believe it has only been 2 weeks since my plastic surgery. I feel great and am going back to work on Monday.

Stitches coming out on Friday.

2/10/06

Went to see Dr. King today. All my stitches came out :>

Said I was healing well. I am so very pleased. The main swelling that is left is in the lower abdominal and pubic area. He said that will come down and takes the longest. I see him again 3/4/06.

He said I could start back at the gym in about another week, and even try bowling. I may wait another 2 weeks for that I will try and see how I feel.

Back to work on Monday morning not sure if I will make it a full day, but I will try.

2/13/06

Weight down to 121. I need to stop losing.I am starting to look a bit drawn in.

Went back to work today and made it from 8:30-1:40. I am exhausted and uncomfortable. It was the longest I have been up and around since the plastics. I know my boss was not thrilled. I hope to last longer tomorrow.

2/26/06

Well it has been a month since my plastics. Still a little swollen in the lower tummy. Feeling great. I am able to wear all of my pre plastic clothing again and that feels good. Got my weight back up to 125 and that feels like where I want to stay. WHen I got lower I thought I looked a bit sick.

Had my 50th Birthday on Thursday. I am feeling fit at fifty :>

3/11/06

1 1/2 months post plastic surgery still a bit swollen but wow I am so much happier

4/09/06

Weight is still stable around 125. Plastics have healed very nicely. I am totally back to doing everything as I did pre plastic surgery. My wasit has gone back down and the swelling seems to be mostly gone. I occasionally still swell a little in the evening.

I am very happy were I am at this point.

I went shopping yesterday for capris for the summer. I am short and they never seem to fit right. Size 4 petites seem to fit best. I did learn something new....I went to the childrens department and tried on kids capris and they fit perfectly! They are short enough and 1/2 the price as the womens department!

So I bought 4 pair in the kids department LOL... I would never have believed this a year ago,

Life is good..no actually it is GREAT!

5/15/06

Maintaining at 125 lbs. All is well. Not really much new to report. Here are some pictures from Mothers Day (5/14/06) of me & my wonderful Husband Bob.

7/25/06

Still maintaining my weight at 124. Flew to Florida last Thursday and bought a house in Hudson on Saturday. It was a whirlwind trip.

Now we are getting ready to put our house on the market and move in the fall.

There is a bariatric unit in the hospital near our new home and they have support group meetings there. One thing I had checked out before taking the plunge.

It is a very scarey and exciting time. Hectic to say the least.

8/24/06

I saw Dr. Singh today since I will not be in NY in Jan for my check up with the upcoming move to Florida. He was very pleased with my results and ability to maintain thus far.

I had his secretary take a photo. It is quite blurry but I am posting it anyway. My shirt says "New and Improved" he laughed :>

9/14/06

20 months post op. Still maintaining at 125.

I am leaving Oct 2nd for my new home in Hudson, Florida. Have not sold my home in NY yet. I am excited, scared and a bit nervous. I have never lived away from NY before. If my home in NY sold it would be much easier. Bob and I will drive down in my car with whatever I can fit in it. I will stay in Florida. He will flfy home on the 17th and take care of things here. I hope it sells soon as I will be so lonesome without him.

Also financially it is going to be a strain with 2 mortgages and 2 households to maintain. I sure hope we get an offer soon.

9/20/06

I am doing great 8 months post op plastics. 125 lbs

9/26/06

I saw Dr. King yesterday. He is pleased with my healing. I need to massage my arms more. They still have a raised scar and I need to get it smoothed out. He feels it will still come down more with massage. I really like Dr. King and am so very happy I had him do my plastics.

I also went to my support group last night. I will truly miss the folks there. Many have been there as long if not longer than I have been there. I have made some great friendships there.

My friend and same day surgery buddy Michelle took me to dinner after and it was great to spend some time with her before I move. I fully intend to stay in touch. I will be back in NY next summer.

So now I need to continue to get ready for my move to Florida on Monday!

WHEN LIFE GETS YOU DOWN

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar...and the coffee...

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, " I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things-your Faith, family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions-things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car. The sand is everything else-the small stuff.

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18.

There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal."

Take care of the golf balls first, the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no
matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."
