Surgeon Testimonial

Jay Lenz
I met with Dr. Lenz on 3/30/04. My husband came with to the appointment. My first impression of Dr. Lenz is that I could really trust him and that he would make sure I was taken care of before, after, and during the process. I don't get to see him again until the surgery day but he told me to make sure I called with any concerns. Dr. Krook will be in the operating room with him and that is a nice feeling that there will be two skilled surgeons there taking excellant care of me.

Dr. Lenz seems to be more reserved than Dr. Krook but I think it's because he wants to makes sure that he gives you all the facts and is in a "No nonsence mood". This isn't a joking matter and is very serious and I get that from him. I respect that approach. I am normally a person who likes to joke and bond with people in fun tone but meeting him is serious and I could tell he takes this surgery very seriously. He is conservative as is the program at SMDC. It may seem like a lot of hoops to jump through but you have to show that this will be a life changing thing for you. You don't just jump back to bad habits and regain all the weight you worked SO HARD to loose! I'm glad he is so serious.

The staff at SMDC have been so wonderful to work with. I've worked with other staff members for other things and haven't had very good service. They are very kind and want to make sure they explain every detail. Roxanne my dietician is a gas! I just love her! Patty the General Surgery Nurse has had the surgery about 2 years ago outside of MN. She is a wealth of knowledge and is at all the support group meetings. This is truely a passion for her and she takes a personal interest in you and assures that you will succeed. She is truely a jem.

I received the information about what to expect afterwards. Patty the General Surgery Nurse wanted to make sure I knew what to expect after surgery...both in the hospital and at home.

I have researched the risks involved with the surgery but Dr. Lenz made sure to cover all areas.

I believ both surgical competence and bedside manner are very important and I have good feelings about both.
