Surgeon Testimonial

David Kim
Dr. Kim is the most careing doctor that I have ever met. He is completely concerned about our health and wellfare and wants to be sure that we are in tip top shape before he does surgery on you. If he has a doubt about anything that has to do with your health he will send you to a specialist for their opinion. I liked everything about Dr. Kim. He is very straightforward in what he says to you and he tells you exactly what you need to know. I haven't had my surgery yet. I am in the third month of dieting for my insurance (Aetna HMO). I go back on the 21st of October and I am unsure if I turn all of my WL journals into him then or turn them in to Pam ( his coordinator ). All of his staff are very knowledgeable of the surgery and what all that we will have to go through. I know that he does have a structured after care and he does tell us from the beginning about all the risks of the surgery. I would rate him and his staff 15 out of the 1-10. They are all very careing and friendly and care alot about their patients. He has monthly meetings that he really encourages his patients to attend after their surgery and he encouranges you to exercise and Walk. He is the best and anyone considering WLS in the Fort Worth
should consider using him. For a thin man ........He truely has a heart for the obese and really wants to help us to live a normal and healthly life.

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
Before WLS I was on a never ending battle with food and emotional eating. I had gotten to where I didn't care what I ate or how much. It didn't matter anyway....I could starve myself and it didn't make a differance....I wouldn't loose a lb.

Hi I am a 53 yr.old woman who has spent my entire life as a morbidly obese person.  I had gastric bypass (RNY) 18 months ago and I just had a Belt Abdominaplasty 3 weeks ago to rid myself of my huge apron of skin that I was left with from the years of being morbidly obese.   I have lost a total of about 140 lbs since I started my journey.   I now finally feel like a complete person and a thin person.   It is amazing that you know by looking at your clothes that you are a small person now but when you look in the mirror with all your excess skin staring you in the face that you feel and view yourself as still"fat".
My body now is far from perfect even after spending $11,000 for the body lift.   But truely who has a perfect body anyway.   It is foolish for a older person of my age to spend thousands of dollars to make your body perfect.   Personally .....I don't have enough money to make my body perfect.   But I did correct the part that bugged me the very most and made me feel really bad about my self image.   I am still very swollen but all in all I am very pleased with the results that I now have and I know that they are only going to get better with time as the swelling goes down.

Can't believe that it has been 2 months since I updated my blog.    Let's just say that this year didn't start out well at all and seemed to get worse and worse as the weeks went bye for me.    Thank God that seems to be changing.    The older I get things seem to really be getting to me and getting me down.    My weight is up just a bit but that is normal for me.    SO glad that things are looking up somewhat now for my family.    Life sometimes throws us curve balls and we just have to do the best that we can to hit them and knock them out of the park.   LOL   If your new on this Weight Loss Surgery Journey.....I have a few words of wisdom for you.    Do NOT stray from your eating program and try "forbidden" things.    You will be setting yourself up for a weight gain if you do that.   Also...when you get stressed out...don't give into stress eating....get out of your environment and do a power walk or go work out your frustrations on exercise.    Also If you have just began your journey....You HAVE TO EXERCISE or walk to keep the weight off.    I PROMISE YOU this IS TRUE !!!!   Now....go out and have a amazing day.

Good Morning Everyone,

I know that this time of the year can be a challenge for us all and trust me it is a BIG CHALLENGE  for me as well.   I have not even began to do my Christmas baking and I think I may put it off as long as I can.    I really dread doing it this year.   Since I've had my WLS ( over 7 yrs. ago ) I have never dreaded this time of year.....but this year I am working very hard on getting off a re-gain and I know what a HUGE challenge it is having sweets around my house.   I am a homemaker and those sweets ( trust me ) know me by my first name and they call me every few seconds......No not minutes BUT seconds.   LOL   I know....I'm pretty funny but I am truly serious about this.    Anyway if you are pretty far out with your WLS and have had a small re-gain ( as I have )....don't think of yourself as a failure because of weight re-gain.   Life sometimes gets in your way and trust me....stress WILL and CAN put weight on you and make you retain it.    That was what my problem is.   I won't go into what all my stresses have been but trust me....they are BIG stresses and they just kept coming at me at a huge speed.    Thank God the stresses have gone down over the last couple of weeks and I did have to get some "help" from my bariatric surgeon's office.     I am 59 yrs. old and a OH Support Group Leader....but I could NOT get the re-gain off even though I was exercising and doing all the right things and eating all the right foods.    Seems that my metabolism had "flatlined" so to speak.   In other words it had slowed down so much that it wasn't affected at all by all my hard work.     So when I went for my 7 yr. checkup and blood work....I asked them for help.    They put me on a low dose diet pill.   I know....DIET PILL ???   When they told me that they were putting me on a diet pill....I was shocked.   I NEVER get hungry since my WLS.....but they said that the pill would boost my metabolism and make me loose.    Well....last month I lost 11 lbs. on their scale ( 14 on mine but I weight in my birthday suit and can't do that there or I would scare them to death ).   LOL  So IF you are in the same boat as I am....you might mention that to your doctor.    I still have some re-gain to go  before I will be where I want to be and I'm praying my body will cooperate with me and the pills.    Hope everyone is having a great holiday season.      Please don't get discouraged with your WLS journey.    It is like life....there are ups and there are downs in this journey....but you have to remember how much better you are than before your surgery and think about where you WOULD BE WITHOUT IT !!!   Have a amazing holiday season and Merry Christmas.   If you are reading this and would like to message me feel  free to do so.   I am on OH off and on all day long.   Have a blessed day !!!

Happy Thanksgiving Week,

For you newbies out there......PLEASE do NOT stress over the holiday's.   Remember your portion control......remember protein first...then veggies then desserts if you have room.    Thanksgiving day is ONE DAY and you don't have to get all stressed out over it.   Let me make some suggestions to you.....if leftovers are a challenge.......Have your guests take some of your leftovers home with them and only keep enough for maybe one meal for your family who lives in your home.    If you don't do that freeze them and eat them at a later date.   Make this holiday season one of the best of your lives.    After all....you are beginning your life again as a healthier...smaller person.   DO NOT let anyone jepordize your successful weight loss this season.   Have a Happy Thanksgiving !!!

 Good Morning OH Friends,

Not much going on in my life right now.   I've been planning our vacation ( we're going in Nov. ).   We are going to go to Las Vegas for 3 days.   I am NOT a gambler to say the least but my hubby likes it.   I like to walk around ALOT and look at the hotels and go to a few shows.    Hope it will be fun.    On the weight issues....I'm still working on getting a re-gain off.   I guess a 20+ lb. re-gain isn't too bad for being almost 7 yrs. post op and all the stress that I have lived under for over 5 yrs.    I am only up about 2 lbs. from my weight 2 yrs. ago.   You " really" have to be aware once your post op of everything you put in your mouth or re-gain can happen before you know it.     Still all in all I thank God everyday for my WLS.    Have a blessed weekend everyone.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian
