My first impression of Dr. Heap is he is very caring and knows what he is doing. He answered all my questions and treated me with dignity.

Thanks very much for the welcome. :) I think I read through the profiles of all of Dr. Heap's current patients (including yours) and I'm pretty impressed by what I've read. I can only hope for the same type of success that you and others have had. It's going to be a long two months waiting for my return to the Tri-Cities. :) joel!

I saw Susan Sunday. She looks wonderful, although she was surprised when I said that (no shower yet). She said the nurses were great, she never felt unwelcome, and Dr Heap was GREAT. She should have gone home yesterday, she was having a bit of trouble with her fluids. I'm sure she'll be up and running soon. She is one tough cookie.

2 year surgery anniversary
Yesterday, I celebrated my second anniversary since having surgery.  Time has just flown by since the surgery and my life has improved more than I ever dreamed possible.  It's the simple things that have made life so delightful since the weight has come off.  Being able to sit wherever I want in any chair that I want.  Gone are the days when I stood or sat in the grass while camping or at outdoor sporting events becasue of those dreaded canvas chairs.  I actually look forward to meeting new people instead of dreading it.  Last summer, I flew to Northern California to be with my son David and his good friend Brandon.  I stayed a week with Brandons parents, something I  never would have done at 300 lbs.  Just the worry of fitting in the plane seats would have been enough to make me not take the trip let alone staying with people I didn't know.  I ended up meeting wonderful people and making wonderful memories that I might have missed out on before surgery.  All in all, the last 2 years have been the best in my life because I am finally living.

Wow. You look amazing. You would never know that you wern't that thin your entire life. I just read an article about someone like you and the woman was explaining how people can't imagine her not being thin. Kudos to you for your hard work and determination!
