Surgeon Testimonial

Gilberto Ungson, M.D.
Before surgery, Dr. Ungson was excellent with his correspondence - answering any and all questions I had.

When I went for surgery, I found him to be a kind and caring person who proved to be a very capable surgeon. He goes to great lengths to make sure that his patients are very well taken care of and I always felt that I was in good hands.

The amazing Chocolate Chip Cookie Diet~
on October 17, 2006 12:38 pm
10/18/06 - This has been a wicked week food wise.  There is a nearby convenience store that has these wonderful little chocolate chip cookies that I have become addicted to.  Oy vey!  After indulging a few times last week, not to mention hubby bringing home chocolate chip cookie dough on Sunday to bake up, I was terrified to step on the scale.  I usually only weigh every week or two so I was due.  I got on this morning and have lost 2 lbs.  How does that happen???  Have I said lately how much I love this surgery???!!!

Now, don't think I've been neglecting any other part of my nutrition because of the cookies - I have been good about getting in my protein - not so much with the water tho.  I drink 2 Slim Fast Carb Options shakes a day so I get 40 grams straight out then make sure my food fills out the rest of my requirements.  It's just amazing how well this surgery works!

September 29, 2006 120 lbs. Lost!
on October 15, 2006 5:32 pm
Well, another 7 lbs. down this month - it still amazes me.  I am still in a size 10P but they are baggy - will be in the 8s soon.

It's so wonderful to enjoy my life again - I'm more active than I have been in years and feel great!!

Greg and I took a weekend and went to Branson and had a great time walking up and down the hills of Silver Dollar City and enjoyed a great concert by the Gatlin Brothers and Pam Tillis.

August 29, 2006 - 113 lbs. Lost!

8/29/06 - 9 Months Out - Weight 152 - 113 lbs. lost!!

My loss for month 8 was at 7 lbs. and my month 9 loss is 6 lbs. For a few weeks, I hadn't lost anything, but here at the end, it finally kicked in and started dropping. I've been tracking my food on Fitday and realized I was not getting in enough protein so I added a protein shake every day and that has helped. That may be what started the weight loss again. I also was sitting on my butt to much after being active on tour so I'm working on getting some exercise a few times a week. The other thing that I think may have effected my loss is my Dr. changed my meds and they kicked up my appetite for a while. That seems to have dissapated so hopefully the loss I've started will kick up for month 10.

I now wear a size 10P jeans which is great! My goal is to get into an 8 or 6 and I'm getting closer!!!

July 16, 2006 - 100 lbs. Lost!!

7/16/06 - 7 -1/2 months out - 100 lbs. lost!! I've had a busy summer - went on tour for 3 weeks with the Cavaliers so I missed my anniversary date here. My loss for month 7 is 5 lbs. It may seem small, but I had so much more physical activity being on tour so I'm sure I was losing fat and building muscle. The increase in activity has also meant an increase in eating. When I'm walking as much as I am on tour, I get hungry faster than when I'm sitting on my butt at home!

I actually went down a size - I wear a size 12 in blue jeans!! This is great news! Can't wait until I'm down into an 8 or 6!!!!

May 30, 2006 - 95 lbs. Lost!
on October 15, 2006 5:28 pm
5/30/06 - 6 Months!! - Weight 170 lbs. - Total loss 95 lbs.!!

I couldn't be happier with my progress so far - things are moving along well. I have learned that I stall for a few weeks and then suddenly things drop, so I don't panic when I don't see a loss as it always catches up to me.

My food quantities are getting better every month and I feel more "normal" all the time. Sweets can still give me an icky feeling and I'm not sure why that is. I can eat fruit easily, but cake or anything else sweet just seems gross to me now.

I have two weeks until I leave on tour so I'm doing what I can to prepare - making sure I have enough clothes! I'm hoping my size 14's will last me for the 3 weeks I'm gone, but since I'm sewing for the tour at least I can alter if I need to.

I've ordered some ADEK's, Dry A&D and Tender Iron for my supplements. I need to get in and get my labs but I want to make sure I'm on a good regimen and I think they will be more beneficial than my standard multivitamin based on what I've seen of other DS'ers labs.
