Surgeon Testimonial

Kenneth Cleveland, M.D.
Dr. Cleveland is a wonderful surgeon. There is no other doctor in Mississippi that I would have trusted more than Dr. Cleveland. He is very professional and understanding and he has been here for me throughout this entire process. I know that alot of people have been complaining about not being able to get calls thru and office staff not returning calls, but this clinic has such a great program going. Once things calm down and things start to get organized, this program will rock!

Well, I finally hit my 150 pound loss from my surgery weight!  I now weigh in at 182 pounds and that is so awesome!  It is hard to believe that at one time I was actually over 350 pounds (322 when I had my surgery on 5/22/07)....  I have been overweight my entire life and the hardest part of this journey is realizing that I am no longer over 300 pounds!  I still catch myself looking at clothes that are too big, or trying to determine if I can actually fit in that chair without breaking it... it is so hard to overcome the issues that came with being overweight!  My hubby will not let me go shopping by myself because he says I will buy clothes that are too big and he wants to be sure i get some that actually fit me now! lol

I feel like a new person and it is just a blessing to be able to play with my kids as well as have the energy to keep up with them.  I was so worried that by having this surgery it would put a strain on my marriage, but Danny is great!  He is the best support for me and he makes sure that I am doing what I am suppose to!  He has been my guardian angel and I never thought it would be possible to love him more, but I do!  He tells everyone that he got a NEW wife without having to get rid of the old one! lol

My Story

I am 33 years old and weigh 320lbs. I have high blood pressure, borderline diabetic, depression/anxiety, arthritis, Reflux, and IBS. I have a family history of Connective Tissue Disorder, Lupus, Fibromylacia, Osteoarthritis, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. The doctors have told me that I am already showing signs of some of these as well. My mother had all of the above mentioned, she died at the age of 46 from Sudden Cardiac Death. She was obese, as is the rest of my family. I have two sons (3yrs and 9 yrs old). I am scared that if I do not do something, I will not live to see them get married and have kids of their own. I have a WONDERFUL loving husband who supports me having the surgery, even though he is scared something bad will happen.  He and the boys are the best thing that has ever happened to me and I love them so much.  This is why I need to do this.  I am so tired of being misserable and I know I have to do something about this weight issue before it is too late. My insurance will not cover any weight loss surgeries, even if they are for health issues. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield - State Insurance. I need to find out what my options are both surgically and financially. I don't know how I will ever be able to pay for this kind of surgery, but I have to try to find a way somehow!
