Surgeon Testimonial

William Strodel, M.D.
I had never had surgery before - and wasn't sure if I should, and what type.rnrnAfter my first meeting with the Doc, I had no misgivings that open was the way to go, and that I could trust this man.rnrnI was right, and his no bullcrap, thoughtful and caring manner put me at ease, made me feel like I was the most important person to him at that time, and he patiently answered my questions, both the ones I thought of, and the ones I forgot or didn't know to ask.rnrnMy surgery went very well, morphine drips are great, rnexcept i kept forgetting to breathe - and I got a kick out of leaving bed the first day and taking a walk - which I recommend to anyone, clears the gas.rnrnDr. Strodel prepared me for everything, his surgical competence and bedside manner are perfect, and his staff amazing. rnrnI have no regrets, and would recommend him to anyone.rnrnI also had issue with waiting too long - thought it was just me, nice to see I wasn't alone? But well worth the wait.

Hello - I had RNY open surgery 9-14-7, and my life was changed. I had the support of my family, and of course the doubt of friends, 'well meaning' advice, but through it all, the RD, LDN from Geisinger, Stephanie Yeager, has been taskmaster, inspiration, role model, teacher, everything rolled into one. Dr Chris Still has given me his undivided attention, and the tools to succeed.

I could not have gone thru with any of this, or had any semblance of success, had it not been for them. Staphanie literally saved my life, and I will be forever grateful.

Dr Still is fantastic, an amazing professional. Thank you, thank you both!

Sorry I've been absent so much - summer has been real busy, finally took a few days off and went to Gettysburg Bike Week!

If I wasn't riding, I was in the pool, haven't done that for 25 years!

Anyone notice holidays are different now? It used to be big about the food and treats!

Went out riding the Roadking today for a couple hours - temp is 27 degree's. What a perfect day for a ride. Only, I notice big time that I don't have the insulation I used to!!!!

Saw my first robin, too.

My Story

As a high school freshman in 1974, I wrestled at 101 weight class, but by 2007, I was 396!

I entered the program at Geisinger, and couldn't have made a better decision. The team there is great, and the dietitian, Stephanie Yeager, is an incredible inspiration. I owe her a lot, probably my life!

Today is 5 month's post op - and I am almost 290, had a checkup today, cholesterol, blood sugar, BP, pulse everything is perfect!

My Doc hadn't seen me since pre-op, and didn't recognize me.

I still have about 80 to go, but I'm well past halfway, and the best part? People who used to call me fat, outweigh me by 10, 20, 30 pounds! :-)

My wife of 18 years was always the skinny one, and never cared what I was, thick or thin - but she loves the new me!

And yes it's true, 30 lbs to an inch!
