Surgeon Testimonial

Alan Posner, M.D., F.A.C.S.
So far so good... I like his style, his straight-forwardness, no pussy-footing around... tells the risks out right, and you follow his program or you leave. I really like the fact that he listened to my questions and answered them in a way I understood without talking down to me; and he asked me if I had any more questions for him... WOW!

Dr Posner in Buffalo at Buffalo General Hospital is about the best thing that has ever happened to me! Had my WLS on Tuesday May 8th and was released on Thursday......all the staff who looked after me were the best!!!!! And I mean everyone, from the housekeeping lady who came in to empty the garbage pail to the Drs...eveyone asked me if I was ok, did I need anything, would I like to see a nurse...etc etc.

I'm impressed. Very impressed with the "perfect" WLS surgery I had in Dr Posner's hands to the followup he did during rounds to the greatest nursing team ever!

Oh, and canucks. If you're doing your "due diligence" and searching for a Dr for the WLS, then please do consider Dr Posner. OHIP works with them, and they're the ones I chose and I'm so ever happy that I did!

Thanks once again Dr Posner! Your skilll has given me back my life! WooHoo... I'm on my way!

I had a PS consult today. I will be going for a breast reduction and mastoplexy (lift) which should be covered by OHIP due to my back pain and the measurements taken (yes, there are specific amounts that the breast must hang to qualify - while he did not tell me the "goal" he did say I am 33" and that should qualify me). I will be going to a C cup from a D/DD; as well as later (after breasts healed) a Circumferential Abdominoplasty (TO THE TUNE OF $11500 plus gst). I am told between both procedures I will lose about 15lbs of skin/fat!! I will concentrate on another 10 pound loss in the next while. So, from 336 to present 215-225, that will put me right where I want to be!

To those of you who somehow managed to have the panni part of your plastics paid for within the past two years, could you please find out what code was used??? My PS told me that OHIP does NOT cover this.

I was given a letter from OHIP to plastic surgeons from two years ago that reads:

"For approval, the pannus must be large (e.g. the apron should hang below the level of the groin/pubis) . In addition, the pannus needs to be "significantly symptomatic" . This means pain, chronic skin breakdown or recurrent infections. "Poor hygiene" and "intertrigo" alone are insufficient to qualify. Low back pain is unlikely to be due to pannus, but may be a consideration in otherwise borderline cases. Please make reference to both the size/extent of the pannus and associated significant symptomatology. "

Thanks all... now I wait the 4 - 12 weeks for OHIP approval on the boobs... *sigh*
