I am the wife of Glenn A who had WLS 12-31-2003.  Before Glenn's surgery he found the OH Bama board to be very supportive.  Having had weight problems for a lifetime, I too have found much encouragement from this board.  Throughout this journey we have made what I call some "life friends" who have become family to us.  Glenn says fat people are good people.  I have been blessed by watching so many on the Bama Board shrink.  My purpose for posting and reading the board is for encouragement only.  If I can help someone then I feel fullfilled.  God has blessed us more than we could ever deserve.  I only want to share his love with others.  With my many health problems, asthma being the worst, I will probably qualify in the near future for the surgery as well.  I would like to maintain without it but if it would help my quality of life I would go for it in a minute.  WLS isn't for everyone but I have witnessed so many lives changed for the good by the surgery.
