I have been overweight for several years now. I have been researching WLS for 5 years or so.  I have 2 friends who have had WLS and have great success both with  improvement of health and with weight loss.

I decided to ask my Dr. about surgery and he was very supportive of the idea.

So then began my journey.  I was referred to the Center of Excellence and started attending the meetings and seminars.  Eventually I was approved for surgery and I now have a date

I have a date and now I am scared!  I am excited but at the same time I am worried.  My date is 1/03/08.

So far so good!
on March 24, 2008 4:32 am

Things seem to be going OK.  I have lost 45 lbs.   I am so happy to have lost the weight, it feels wonderful.  I still need to loose quite a bit more but I am working on it.  I have been able to eat OK.  I do have a hard time eating meats, it is very difficult to get down.  I have had the "foamies" a couple of times and that was not pleasant at all.

Initially when I came home ffrom the hospital I had buyer's remorse and it lasted for about 2 weeks.  I was very down and sick of liquids.  But everytime I got on the scale I was happy that a little bit of me was gone.

When I started solids everything became a little bit easier.  I was grateful to be able to try new things and get away from mashed potatoes.  I have had trouble with certain foods, and for a couple of days here and there I have not been able to eat anything but soup.  However, I am so glad that I had the surgery and I feel like my life has changed so much for the better and I only forsee it getting better.

Well I am 6 days out of surgery and I am feeling quite well.  I am not in too much pain, and I am able to sleep well.  I do get very thirsty and yes, hungry as well.  I am kind of sad that I get hungry but I keep telling myself that I have had almost nothing to eat for seven days in a row.  I am able to keep liquids down without any problems at all.  After a few sips of whatever, yogurt or cream of chicken soup the hunger does go away.  So I am using my tool as instructed.  I have lost 6 pounds so far (yeah!!!!!!)
