Surgeon Testimonial

Jeffrey Lord, M.D.
Dr. Lord is an excellent choice for a Bariatric Surgeon. He knows his stuff and makes sure that his patients know their stuff as well. Every step, starting from Nutrition, insurance, to self-care and education, Dr. Lord and his staff have made an awesome job out of surgical success. I would definately recommend Dr. Lord or his associate, Dr. Freedman to anyone contemplating weight loss surgery.

4 years out now!!
on August 8, 2011 4:58 pm
I have not been on this site for so long that I wasn't sure I'd remember my password.  If anyone is even reading this.

I'm 4 years and 2 months out from saving my life.  I have gained 15 lbs. from my goal but am maintaining and have kept this weight for over a year.  I'm fine with that.  I'm very healthy and happy.  I sometimes forget my vitamins though, gotta get on that.  Here is a picture of me taken recently.  Love to all!

Dr. Lord's annual Fashion Show!
on August 5, 2009 7:32 am
I was in the fashion show this year!  It was so great.  About 35 slender, sexy peeps strutted their stuff down the red carpet and got to hug our surgeon and say a few words about how our surgery has changed our lives.  I was so nervous I practically sprinted down the isle, but it was worth it.  Here are a few pics:

My first bikini in almost 15 years!
on March 30, 2009 8:01 am
Well, I don't have my tan on yet, but I'm  by no means repulsive!  In fact, I feel triumphant!!  Not too bad for a mom of two, eh?  I'm still working on maintaining.  I'd like to lose 5 lbs, but I'm not stressing it.    I'm still loving my RNY!  Bring on the summer!!!!

18 months out!

1-2009.jpg 18 months out -125 lbs picture by annab75
Well, it's been a while but I've  been enjoying life!  I'm 18 months out now and down 125 lbs.  I was down 128 lbs, but the Holidays were unkind ;-)
My blood work last week was phenominal.  All my vitamin, calcium, B12, iron, etc. is within the perfect range.  Nothing was even slightly low.  Unfortunately I have stopped exercizing.  I love to bike and the cold weather has got me snuggling up inside.  I do miss it though and plan to be back full force in the Spring.  Got to maintain somehow!
I still am trying to get used to how differently people treat me, especially strangers.  Men stop to hold the door open for me, sales people are friendlier, and even my own children tell me how pretty I am!  This is all new,but I'm not complaining.  I just wish it was like this before as well.  I am happy and feel great, still no complications at all.
I started seeing a 'weight management' Doctor per protocol by my RNY surgeon.  I'm glad, I feel like someone is holding me accountable long-term post op.  I'm really worried about  regain, especially since I can eat anything now and  larger portions.  It's all about choices and I plan on making good ones.  Best of luck to all!

Had a Tummy Tuck!
on July 22, 2008 8:22 am
I went ahead and had my tummy tuck/lipo (back and hips) on July 7th.  That was about 2 weeks ago.  It's a bit soon, but I was at goal and maintaining and I wanted it done before I start teaching next month.  I can't take 2 to 3 weeks off work my very first year of teaching!

Doc said he took off 5 lbs. from the TT and 160 cc's from the lipo (don't know how much that equivalates to in pounds).  So now I am officially below my personal goal.  Not by much, but enough.  I'm pretty stoked about that.

Things are going well after the surgery.  It was certainly uncomfortable and the binder you have to wear was unbearable.  It had metal rods throuhout.  I cut out the rods.  Bad me, but so what.  It's still supportive and I keep it tight.  My back still bothers me from the lipo and I'm still pretty swollen and will be for several more weeks.  At least I'm off all pain meds now.

Maybe next summer I'll be bikini ready!  I'll post some pics of my before and afters when I get them from my plastic surgeon.  He wont take the after shots for several more weeks.

My Story

Okay, here's my story.  I am 32 years old, 5'3",with a starting BMI of 44.6.  I'm a wife of 11 years, and the mother of two young and beautiful children.  I have struggled with my weight since age 7.  I was always a chubby child, then lost some weight as a teen through starvation, then gained it back as a young adult.  The scales have kept going up since (especially after the birth of each of my children).
At one point I did lose 75 lbs on my own through diet and exercise, but it came back on with a vengence. I am having Laproscopic RNY on June 18, 2007, and I cannot wait!

MY GOALS:

Go outside during the summer without sweating profusely the second I walk outside -Done

Stop avoiding old friends that I haven't seen in a long time - Done

Wrap my bath towel around me when I get out of the shower and have it go all the way around - Done
Be able to jump on our trampoline for more than twenty seconds -Done

Cross my legs -Done

Paint my toenails without having to hold my breath -Done

Play with my kids with more energy -Done

Be intimate with my husband without being self-conscience

Have a napkin in my lap while dining out - currently I don't have a lap to speak of -Done

Speaking of laps, it would be nice to not have my tummy millimeters away from the steering wheel while driving - that can't be safe -Done

Be able to sit in a booth while dining out without having my stomach smooshed into the table -Done

Sink when I swim, not just bob around like a buoy.  -Done

Be happy about having my picture taken - Done

Have a nice family portrait taken and mailing it out to everyone I know, have known, or will know in the future
Go to a public beach without hiding under my shirt -Done

Wish me luck!!
