Surgeon Testimonial

Jeffrey Lord, M.D.
Dr. Lord is an excellent choice for a Bariatric Surgeon. He knows his stuff and makes sure that his patients know their stuff as well. Every step, starting from Nutrition, insurance, to self-care and education, Dr. Lord and his staff have made an awesome job out of surgical success. I would definately recommend Dr. Lord or his associate, Dr. Freedman to anyone contemplating weight loss surgery.

2 month update
on August 18, 2007 8:02 am

Today is my 2 month surgerversary!  I have put away my scale now and only get it out once a week.  The daily weigh-ins were driving me nuts.  My 2 month weigh-in today shows that I am down 14 pounds this month!  That's 38 lbs. total!  My new BMI is 37.9 - just "obese", no longer "morbidly obese"!!

Not really proud of this picture, but it will show my progress later in my journey.  I need a haircut.

incision update and wow moment
on August 12, 2007 6:10 pm

The incision thing....it's fine.  It turned out to be an abcess.  I saw Dr. Lord and he said he could either cut it open and drain it, or we could leave it alone and see if it clears up on its own (he said it usually does).  Duh, that was a no-brainer.  We left it alone.  That way I could still enjoy myself at the water park/amusement park we were leaving for soon.  It looks much better already and I haven't done a thing to it.  Thank goodness!

Now for my wow moment...
While we were at Wild Adventures I got in a seat on a roller coaster ride that I could not fit on last October!  Last year I had to move to the back seat on this ride because the seat belt was longer and could fasten.  It was embarrassing then, but luckily no one else was on the ride at that time.  This time it was packed.  I had to suck it in hard, but I fit!  I rode several more times just cause I COULD!

It was unbelievably HOT there and I know I sweated out at least 2 lbs.  Plus, I drank a TON of water. Can't wait to see the scale tomorrow, I've been without it for 4days now.  I'm going through withdrawals.

7 weeks out - infected incision?!?!
on August 7, 2007 7:40 pm
I have had a very tiny part of this particular incision site that looked as if the stiches never fully dissolved and it was slightly spread open.  It never caused me any concern, however since it wasn't tender and looked okay.  Tonight I was taking my bath and noticed it was very swollen (like a tiny mountain), tender, and had redness about the diameter of a dime.  I put Neosporin on it and emailed my doc's ofc, but since it's almost 10pm here it will be tomorrow before I get any feedback.  To make matters more difficult, I am going on vacay this Thursday.  Hopefully Jan from the docs office will call early tomorrow.  I'll phone her if not.

6 Week Post Op Dr. Appointment
on August 1, 2007 9:15 pm
I saw my doc today.  He said my weight loss is right on track (30 lbs).  I thought I was losing slow, but he said I'm doing great and have already lost 21% of my access body weight.  By next month's appointment, I should be around 35 -40% down.  I think I'm going to up my protein, too.  I read in the book, "Before and After" about calculating your needed protein according to your goal weight, and after doing this, I see I should be at 74 g/day.  He said that should be fine and to go ahead.  I'm excited because I exercise and I know that will help burn more fat.  I feel wonderful (except for a small cold I'm battling), and I can already see a slimmer me in the mirror.  Not a huge change, but subtle ones.  I'll take it!
Thumbs Up
