I am a 50 years old female, married for 25 years to my very supportive husband, David. We have four grown children between us and six grandchildren. I was born and raised in Southern CA. and moved to MO. back in 1981. I have had some weight issues since my teens but since I got hurt in 1997, everything has gone downhill. I have gained almost 120lbs since then. Like most people I have tried just about anything trying to get this weight off but the more I try, the more I gain.

Feeling a little ancy today, nervous about the surgery, probably! It's kinda like having a baby! You really want to do it, you read the books, buy everything you need, go to all your Dr. appts.....then, reality sets in! Your going to go through the most horrific pain you cannot even image for this little gift, a miracle if you will. Funny thing is...a few years down the road, you do it all over again, forgetting how much it hurt the FIRST time!!

Well, this time, a little piece of plastic called a Lap Band will be my little gift and I pray it works miracles and no I DON"T want to do it over!

My grandson, Timothy will be coming to stay with me for a few days. I miss having him around. Him and his Mom use to live with us, then they lived here in town. Now, their like an hour away and I hardly get to see him or his little sister, Emilie.

Just snacked, watched movies, enjoyed my time with David and wished Jesus, a Happy Birthday!
Nicole, Leon and kids came by Christmas Eve to celebrate. Roy came by for a few minutes on Christmas day. Jason is in Springfield with Wendy and her family. David Jr and his family went to his Mom's

No big meal or big family gathering! Everyone just did their own thing! My daughter, her boyfriend and their kids came by to watch the Chiefs game that evening but that was about it. Jason stayed in Springfield with his girlfriend and Roy had to work. I no longer cook the big meals. I gave that up last year, it just takes too much out of me and I can't enjoy the Holidays that way. David and I just watched movies and enjoyed each other.

just a note...

Just a note I would like to add to all the people on here. I was nervous at first about coming on here and laying out all my troubles for the world to see! It's nice that all of you support each other on here the way you do. Most people out there just don't understand what we go through! When I get on here and start talking, everyone knows what I'm talking about! I don't have to explain anything! There was someone on here, somewhere (it may of even been in one the memorials that I have read) that was talking about their weight loss and had mentioned being able to tie their shoes, not off to the side like most of us have to do but on top like they belong and they were so tickled by that... I can sooo relate to that and so many other things that we people bring up. Say it to a skinny person and they look at you like you have a third eye...Thank you all, for your support!!!!

I have an appointment with Dr. Hornbostel for August 30. I have letters coming from my pcp and microsurgeon to back up the need for WLS. As for the psych. eval. I saw shrinks recently for my depression and my pcp has been treating me for it for years and will continue to treat me pre and post WLS and I believe Dena saids that would be good enough for the head shrinking part

call for appointment...

Got an email from Dena at Dr. Horbostel's office in Sedalia to make my appointment. She said Coventry won't cover the surgery but Medicare should (there's a hurdle to be jumped with Medicare but God willing, we'll make it). She said I need a letter from my PCP and a psch eval. (go figure) I'm so nervous and excited....guess I better get off of here and make an appointment...woohoo!
