I have had my consult with the doctor and I have my psych eval scheduled so I am really excited to soon be hang'n with the rest of the losers!!! I'm going to be a BAND-IT!! yeehaw!! Look out world, here comes the new me.

09/28/06   Well my psych eval is this Monday. I can hardly wait. It seems like this is too good to be true. I know this is one step closer to my new beginning.



09/30/06 Today is saturday and I am two days away from my psych eval. I can hardly wait. It seems like the time is flying on most days but on others it seems like it is taking forever. I will just have to leave it in GODs hands and hope he gives me more patients.



10/02/06 Had my psych eval today. Now i'm more confused than ever! (lol) The doc said that he thought I would benefit from the lap-band surgery but that he would not say yes or no, but that he would send my doctor a letter and leave it up to him. I have a bipolar disorder and the psych said that major surgery could make me have an "episode". I thought he would have learned in med school that a bipolar person can have an "episode" at the drop of a hat. I don't understand his way of thinking. Anyway I have not taken meds for biolar in nine years so I think I can handle what ever comes my way. Oh well, I will just leave it in Gods hands because only he really knows what is best. Lois from Dr. Watson office said to wait untill she gets the letter and she will show it to the doc and we will take it from there. Now come the patients thing I mentioned.


10/07/06 I received my letter yesterday from the psych eval. The doctor was descent enough. He said the same things I have heard all along about my bi-polar. and of course he thinks that I need meds. I was severely over medicated by a doctor that I was seeing about nine years ago. So it makes it extremely scary for me to even try meds again. I love life and I wasn't living then I was only existing.I have been doing good without the meds so I hope that Dr. Watson won't make me get the bi-polar meds before he will do my surgery. I really want this band but I don't want the bi-polar meds. I had to fax a copy of the letter to Lois in Dr. Watsons office because they have not received their copy yet. So I get that faxed and she refaxs it to Dr. Watson but he is going to be out of town for a conference this weekend in Chicago so now again I wait for answers. Oh well whats one more weekend. I have been getting everything ready. I have been practiceing not drinking with or within an hour after my meals. I felt this was going to be the hardest part for me so I thought that I might as well get started now. I think I got it down now. I have added mostly protein to my diet so that it will be the norm for me after surgery. I have no doudt that I CAN DO THIS.So I will keep my head high and trust in the LORD.


10/13/06 Dr. Watson should be back in his office today so I am really praying that I will find out something really soon. It is so hard just waiting and not knowing anything. I have made my waiting time very productive. I have made so many changes to my daily life style. I have started eating the right things and learning to do the chew,chew, chew thing that is so important. I have stopped drinking with or within one hour of my meals. I have added the protein to my daily diet. fork is down inbetween bites too! I want this so bad I am not giving failure any room to set down its ugly roots! So now I wait to see if I hear from the doctors office today.Please, Please, Please LORD PLEASE!!!!let it be today!!!!!LOL I know, I know this is where the patients are needed.


10/16/06  I still haven't heard anything yet.......I think they forgot about me! I hate waiting......I sent an e-mail to Lois today so I should probley hear something pretty soon because she is very good about getting back to me when I e-mail her. AAAAAAHHHH! why is it taking so long? I know it really hasn't been that long it just seems like it to me because I am the one that is doing the waiting. Oh well, it just gives me more time to practice on getting all of the good habits down. 

10/19/06 I got a date! there was a cancelation for next week and I was blessed enough that Dr.Watsons nurse(Lois) e-mailed me and said that I could have that spot if I wanted it! Dang right I want it!!!!! I am so excited. My pre-op is on Oct25th at 1:00 and surgery is Oct26th. NEXT WEEK! I am so excited I can hardly stand it! I only have to do liquids the day before surgery but I have to do a protein diet which I have already been doing. AAAAAAAAAAAAA! sorry I just had to get that out! I will be updating  again when I have more news or the surgery. 


10/24/06 tomorrow is my pre-op and I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I have all this excited energy and I have been putting it to use getting everything cleaned in my house and trying to get some of my home improvment projects completed.I have sold my house so I have to get all that in order and try to find a new house for us at the same time. I have alot of new  things going on in my life right now but thanks to God they are all good things. Everyone here at OH has been so wonderful. I love to check in every day just to see what is going on with everyone. I have learned so much just reading what other people have to say. It has really helped me in so many ways. Thank you to everyone. 


10/25/06 Tomorrow is my big day. I feel like this is all a dream. I had my pre-op today and I have already lost 10 pounds. I just hope that won't be all I lose. I still don't feel nervous, just excited. Today was a liquids only day and that went really well for me. I was really lucky because Dr.Watson puts his patients on a low calorie high protein diet for two weeks and liquids the day before surgery but sence mine was schedualed so soon I only had it for one week. Well tomorrow be be the begining of the new me.I like that thought already.


10/29/06  I'm banded, I'm home and I'm sore! But I would do it again in a heart beat. I am swollen and feel like a stuck pig but I know that will get better in time. I am so excited still. Everything went well during surgery but I was banded 5 hours later than I was scheduled because of complications with one of the other patients. I don't know what happened I just know I am so glad that it is done. I have to schedule an appointment with the doc for a follow up in two weeks. See ya then!


11/01/06 13lbs down! Still swollen and a little sore but doing really great . Today I feel more like my old self. Getting my energy back and wanting to clean. (can't stand my house to be messy)I can hardly wait to see the diffrence when all the swelling and blotting goes away. My husband calls my band "our baby" (lol) crazy man, gotta love him. I saw my sister yesterday for the first time sence surgery and she said even though I am still swollen you can tell that I have lost weight. I LOVE IT! I got the gas pains in the shoulders yesterday right after I told my sister that the pain hasn't really been very bad. Just as soon as I said it......It hit! OUCH!!!!!!!wow that hurts. I flapped my arms, I walked, I cried(just a little) we went to the drug store so I could talk to the pharmacist.  My sister put a massarger on it and wow that really helped so much. So I bought a massage to use at home and I am going to keep it close at hand just incase that awful pain hits again. I am doing really good on the protein drinks but have trouble getting in the water. But that is going to be a misson for me. I love a challenge. So today I will measure out the amount of water I am to drink for today and have it in my face so I know it is what I have to do. Wish me luck!  



11/08/06 Today was my two week follow up appointment. My doctor was very pleased with my weightloss so far. I am a little disapointed because I haven't lost any weight in the last week. I know that it is going to be a slow process but I really was hoping it would be a little faster that this. All in all it is really good though. This is the first time I have lost this much weight in this short of time. (just being hard on myself right now). It can be really hard when you see some people lose like 20-40lbs in two weeks and then you lose .....just some....well 15lbs in two weeks isn't bad either. I have to keep reminding myself of that. I bought an elliptical machine yesterday so I hope to make that my new friend from now on. I get on it for a while everytime I walk by it so I can build up my endurence. by this time next week I hope to be riding like crazy.Look out skinny pants.............here I come!



11/24/06 I thought I should update a little since it has been a while. Yesterday was Thanksgiving and I did really good. I was very proud of myself. I made a lot of my regular recipes but changed to low fat and sugar free not one person noticed. So yesterday everyone in my family was eating better and they didn't even know it. I have gone from a size 20 to a size 16 (I love this band!).  I will be glad when I start getting my fills. I know (hope) that things will move a lot faster for me. I am not complaining by any means. I have had a few times that I have eaten too fast but trust me after a couple time of that you learn! Well I am off to go play with my grandbaby. 


11/26/06  FINALLY! I am no longer morbidly obese. I am now severly overweight.  Today is my one month baniversary. I get to go see my nut on tuesday for my nutrition class. Then I will be able to start my fills. I can't wait. I love this band! It hasn't all been smooth sailing but it is a wonderfull way of life. Untill next time .....have a wonderful day.


12/16 /06 I know it's been a while sience I posted anything but that's because there is nothing to tell. NOTHING! the dang scale hasn't moved. I have stalled. I go for my first fill on Dec.20th so maybe then we can get things rolling. I am ready to get this party started. I have a wedding to go to in March and I want to be looking good! I can say thank the good lord that I haven't gained any thing either. In the pre band life I would have packed on some pounds during the holidays. That's just one more reason I LOVE MY BAND!



12/21/06  I got my first fill yesterday. It was intresting and strange feeling at the same time. The PA couldn't find the "fill area" on the port at first. She numbed my tummy first and then she went to digg'n. I couldn't feel any pain just some strange sensation as she was feeling around with the needle. I think she stuck me like 8 times. I have a beautiful black and purple bruise on my tummy. She had an assistant to come in and hold my feet up and told me to lift my shoulders and chest up like I was doing a sit up to tighten my stomach area  so she could feel the port area better. All I could do was pray that I didn't get any gas right then because that would have been it for me! I just kept praying....lord don't let me fart, don't let me fart, Please don't let me fart. wheww I was so glad when that was over! I still don't feel any restriction and the PA told me that my doctor will only give fills every 2 months. I asked her what if I need one before that and she said to call the office and we will talk about what I am doing and eating and if the doctor feels that I need another fill then I might get another one. But in the mean time I have to give this one a fair chance. I just want the weight to start coming off again. (well I did lose a pound but that's not enough for me) I have lost a total of 23lbs sience my consultation.
