Surgeon Testimonial

John Oldham, Jr. M.D.
Dr. Oldham was very professional and answered all my questions that I had. He had very good bedside manners and treated me with respect.

I highly recommend Dr. Oldham and the staff at Georgetown Bariatric Center to anyone cause I was in the best care and have done wonderful since my surgery on December 4, 2006 and I know other people will do great also.

My Story

12/4/2007
Well here I am one year post-op and boy oh boy what an amazing year this has been for me.  I have lost 138 lbs. and have felt better than I have in years!!
This WLS has just absolutely amazed me because everytime I thought I had eaten too much or over done it on the carbs, I would still loose.  I just feel so blessed to be where I am at today because a year ago I thought I was going to die from Morbid Obesity.  Now thanks to God, and my wonderful surgeon I have a new lease on life.
Mini me

WOW! WHERE DO I BEGIN? WHEN I WAS A KID, I WAS A SKINNY LITTLE THING THEN CAME THE TEENAGE YEARS AND SEEMED LIKE THEN IS WHEN I BLOOMED AND BOY DID I EVER! I FEEL LIKE I WAS AS BIG AS THE WHOLE BLAMED FLOWER GARDEN BY THE TIME I GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL. WHEN I GOT MARRIED AT 21 I KNOW I MUST HAVE WEIGHED 230 OR 240lbs. I HATED BEING A FAT BRIDE EVEN THOUGH MY HUBBY LOVED ME JUST THE SAME (AND STILL DOES) WE HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR 18 YEARS AND HE HAS BEEN VERY SUPPORTIVE TOWARD THE IDEA OF ME HAVING THIS SURGERY BECAUSE HE KNOWS HOW MISERABLE I HAVE BEEN FOR THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS. MY WEIGHT NOW IS 330lbs AND I HAVE A DIFFICULT TIME GETTING AROUND, MY BACK, KNEES AND FEET HURT SO MUCH.

I STARTED THINKING ABOUT THE BYPASS SURGERY ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO BUT CHICKENED OUT AND BACK THEN MY INSURANCE WOULD HAVE COVERED IT BUT NOW THEY DON'T. NOW I HAVE TO FINANCE IT MYSELF. DUH !!! I WENT TO A SEMINAR AROUND THE END OF AUGUST, THEN SENT ALL MY PAPERWORK INTO THE BARIATRIC CENTER AND HAVE HAD ALL THE DR. VISITS ECT.. OVERWITH AND AM NOW READY FOR SURGERY ON DECEMBER 4, 2006.

I AM SO EXCITED BUT ALSO SCARED TO DEATH FOR TWO REASONS. I AM AFRAID THE SURGERY WON'T WORK FOR ME I CAN NOT PICTURE MYSELF LOOSING ALOT OF WEIGHT EVEN THOUGH I HAVE DONE IT ONCE BEFORE WITH PILLS (70lbs) ONLY TO GAIN IT AND THEN SOME BACK. AND I AM ALSO AFRAID OF PAIN SO I DON'T KNOW HOW I WILL DO. THE DR.S WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO KEEP ME KNOCKED OUT UNTIL I AM FULLY RECOVERED. HA-HA! NO REALLY I AM TRYING TO LEAVE EVERYTHING IN GOD'S HANDS AND HE WILL TAKE CARE OF IT ALL.
