I am a 40 year old mom and wife.  I had my surgery on September 20, 2002.  I did have Lap RNY.  I start out at 317 pounds and stopped at 177 pounds.  Being that I am 5'10" tall that was fine with me.  I feel much better.  I have not had any problems other than my B12 getting really low so I've started doing the B12 shots.  I was doing the sublingual B12 but I guess they weren't working for me.  I have gone through a lot of stress over the last six months but things are looking up.  God has truly taken care of me through all of this.  He blessed me with wonderful insurance that paid for all of my surgery.  Anyway, if you have any questions I can help with, feel free to ask. :)

SNOW
on January 19, 2008 8:56 am
Oh my goodness!  We woke up to snow this morning, 1/19/2007 and it is beautiful.  We are all so excited.  It has been sooo long since we have seen a good snow like this.  I'm doing pretty good, trying to get back on track.  I've gained about 20 pounds by just not paying closer attention to what I'm eating.  Trying to stay away from the bad carbs and eat more protein and good for you stuff.  I'm still happy with my weight though.  Anyway, there are a couple of pics of the snow under photos if ya'll would like to take a look.

WOW! 5 years
on September 20, 2007 7:29 am
Well, it has been five years ago today that I had my surgery.  I do thank God and Dr. Miles for this surgery.  It has changed my life.  I'm so much happier now that I was then.  I have gained about 15 to 20 pounds back but I'm still happier than I was 5 years ago.  I'm hoping once things get settled for my family I will be able to join Weight Watchers and get this weight back off.  I do better with groups then I do on my own.  I do notice that I am able to eat more now and I have to watch myself.  My heart feels like it will beat out of my chest if I try to eat anything too sugary, which is good.  It makes me not want to eat those things.  I am very thankful for this surgery.

Finally moving
on July 24, 2007 6:46 am
Well, we are finally moving.  The movers will be here to pack us on the 3rd and move us on the 6th.  We found a house to rent in Thomasville, AL but are trying to buy a house in Sweet Water, AL.  I'm praying we will be able to get a loan because I'm tired of renting but I know it is God's will be done, not mine.  God always knows best.  Momma is doing good.  She went to church for the first time on Sunday since she was diagnosed.  We lost our beagle, Belle on Sunday.  She was poisoned somehow, we aren't sure how.  We miss her terribly but will get another when we get settled.  As far as weight, I'm staying about the same.  Since we have not had insurance I haven't had blood work done but hopefully we will be getting insurance soon.  Anyway, that is it for now.  Ttyl.

Well, my dh finally got a job but that means we will be moving once again.  This makes 9 moves in our 19 year marriage.  We will be moving back to Alabama but southern AL this time instead of northern.  I found out yesterday that momma's lymphoma is in remission.  I do praise God for that!!!  Things are finally starting to look up. :)

My Story

Well, I had my surgery on 9/20/2002, about 4.5 years ago.  So far I'm doing okay.  By God's grace I have not had any problems.  I started out at 317 pounds and stopped at 177 pounds but have gained some over the last year.  I am up to 190 pounds but being 5'10" I still look okay.  My husband lost his job right before Thanksgiving and then we found out my mom has lymphoma so I've been going through some trials but God will see me through these too.  Momma is doing good and I know God has something better in mind for my hubby.  I know the reason I started gaining is because I started snacking.  I'm a stress eater.  So I have been praying that God take away my desire to snack.  I've been trying to buy healthier things to snack on and keep the chips and chocolate and cookies out of the house.

A little about me, I am 40 years old and have been married 19 years to a wonderful man and we have two beautiful daughters ages 14 and 12.  God has truly blessed me.  This is about our 8th move in our marriage.  We are originally from Arkansas and that is where our family lives.  We live in Georgia right now but would love to get closer to home.  We have also lived in Louisiana and Alabama.  I do medical transcription from home.  God has also blessed me there.  I actually work for a company but they pay me like I am self employed.  I do have a boss.  Everything is done over the internet.  The docs upload their dictations and then we download and transcribe and then upload them back.  It is a very good system.  Anyway, I will try to update more often.
