Surgeon Testimonial

Mario Longoria, M.D., FACS
My first impression of Dr. Longoria was positive. He has an excellent bedside manner tempered with a straightforwardness that is extremely refreshing. He was thorough in his education about the various surgeries available to me and how I might respond to each one. My opinion of him has continued to be positive through preop and surgery. I felt I was in good hands and never once questioned my decision to choose him as my WLS surgeon and look forward to a lifetime doctor/patient relationship with him.

I see him in the new office in Round Rock and the staff there seems confused/flustered most of the time. They're sweet, but honestly I had to not only tell the receptionist that they had the wrong surgery on my chart but she had never heard the term RNY/roux-en-Y. I was not happy about standing in the waiting room with others waiting saying "I'm here for bariatric surgery!" Paperwork really should have been completed in the back of the office in privacy. Scheduling surgery was a little flustered as well, but did eventually work itself out after a couple of weeks and after that there were no more hiccups. *Update: On my first postop visit the receptionist recognized me right away and check-in was a breeze.

The nutritionist and the exercise therapist are both super and I look forward to working with them more in the future.

Overall a strongly positive experience.

More and more changes
on March 20, 2011 1:02 pm
It's been a slow evolution, but it was a long time coming.  I'm learning to accept myself as I am.  I bought a shirt this week that shows my arms, bat wings and all, and I'm not ashamed to wear it.  I posted a recent (actually taken today) photo of myself on facebook for the first time ever.  It's ok to be me.  Today, on this first day of spring, I was baptized/confirmed by my church.  I feel blessed in so many ways.
