Surgeon Testimonial

Noel Williams, M.D.
I haven't met with Dr. Williams yet but from what I've researched, I'm thinking I'll like him. My previous experience with Univ. of Penn was a wonderful experience. During my pregnancy I was under the care of Dr. Robert Debbs and he and his staff were absolutely wonderful. So I'm hoping for a similar experience with Dr. Williams and his staff.

Just reflecting....
on September 23, 2008 3:27 pm
9-23-08

Hey! It's funny how our self perception is so different than what other's see.  Let me explain....I know I've lost a lot of weight since having surgery.  But when I look at my body in the mirror, I pretty much see the same shape/weight that I've seen for many years (although there is one less belly roll ).  Anyway, I have to remind myself that all the walking, aqua workouts, weight training and choosing of healthier foods have and do make a difference.  I have to remind myself that I no longer wear a size 26/28 pants, 26/28-30/32 blouses, 46D bras, 10W shoes, etc.  In reminding myself of how far I've come, it helps me to remain consistent as consistency is key.

In the beginning of this journey, I remember saying that I'd be happy wearing a size 20 pants.  Well sitting in a size 20 pants today, I realize I'd like to lose more. I'm not sure what size my idea weight will bring, but I look forward to looking in the mirror and seeing "A New Me."

Until next time,

Time Flies.....
on August 25, 2008 11:59 am
8/25/08

Hello All,
They say time flies when you're having fun and it really does;  I'm enjoying the healthier me.  Besides having so much more energy and participating in activities that I never considered in the past,  I'm able to wear clothes I haven't worn in many years (thank God I didn't throw them away).

I have to admit the compliments went to my head and I fell off track.  I stopped walking and began to not pay attention to what I was eating.  But thankfully, I'm back on track and realize I have much more weight to lose although I'm not discounting what I've accomplished thus far.  So I'm back to walking my behind off (2 to 3 miles a day), I've signed up for an aqua fitness class and I'm checking the board for inspiration. I'm setting mini goals for myself.  I'd love to lose 39 pounds by my 39th birthday in November.   I'm hoping to  "step out"  for my birthday, I want to really LOOK like I've lost some weight.   I may be pushing it, I'm not sure but I'm looking forward to the challenge.  Pray for me!!

Oh, about a month ago, I had a scare.  Out of the blue, I had to get an unfil in July after not having a fill since Feb. I don't know what caused this too tight feeling but I was relieved that my band was still in place and that I didn't require any type of surgery.  I'm scheduled for an adjustment in September.  So I guess that's a mouthful.
Until next time,

Happy 1year Bandiversary to Me!
on June 12, 2008 12:57 pm
6-12-08

Just a quick post to acknowledge the day.....

Wow, where did the time go?  It's been a year already and I'm happy to report that as of today, I'm 65 pounds lighter!  I started this journey at 318 and today the scale reads 253!  I know I could have done better but I'm not beating myself up over it.  My journey isn't over!

PS - Here's a special shout-out to frutiful165, your postings are so inspirational, I draw strength from reading them.  Thank you!

Spring is Here!
on April 17, 2008 1:18 pm

4-17-08

Hi All,
Based on the continuous warms days, I think I can say for sure Spring is here and I'm back to getting my walk on!  It's an awesome feeling to walk in pleasant weather, I don't know what it is but I feel so empowered and free.

So in two months, I'll be celebrating my 1 year bandiversary.  I never set a one year goal but I'd be happy with losing 75 pounds by June 12th.  So we'll see what happens.  In the meantime, I'll continue to do my morning 1 mile walk or if I stay in the house, 2 mile walk away the pounds DVD (maybe 3 mile soon), walk on my lunch break and try to squeeze in an evening walk.  I also started using some hand weights.  A friend suggested that I get some 5 pound weights and do some arm exercises in the evening while watching TV.  I tell you, it doesn't feel like a chore at all.  Waiting for the results to show……

In any event, I'm happy with my weight loss and looking forward to losing more during these summer months.

Until next time,
~ANM

Checking in....
on March 5, 2008 2:34 pm
3-5-08

Hi All,
So I haven't had a chance to post in some time.  I've been so busy with work (recently promoted ) and school besides the normal every day stuff with family and friends.

Anyway, I still have pretty good restriction although I'm not as tight as I had been (thank goodness).  I really haven't had a scale victory since my last posting but I surely can see a change in my clothing.  I'm happy to report that I purchased a size 20 jeans!!!!  They have 1% spandex but they're still a size 20.  I got them from Fashion Bug.  I normally don't shop at Fashion Bug but wanted some classic casual jeans w/o all the decals, pockets, etc. and they happen to have some on sale for $12.49!  I haven't worn a size 20 since the doors of 16 Plus opened!  My tops are still a size 24 and/or 26 but they fit soooooooooooo much better than before.

In all, I'm happy.  I thought I would have lost more than 60 pounds by now (March will be 9 months) but I blame my lack of progress on the cold weather.  I'm really looking forward to the weather changing so that I can get out and do more walking.  I hope to incorporate weight lifting and toning exercises into my cardio workout.

Until next time,
~ANM
