Here's the overall status:

11-16-04 First call of any kind to Kaiser PCP

11-19-04 First visit with PCP, approved on the spot for referral to WLS (because although I have zero co-morbidities my BMI is over 52); blood drawn for lab work done on the spot; mammography ordered; referral to nutritionist and psych consultant made on the spot. Waiting for those appointments now.

12-02-04 I'm going to need reliable transportation for this, so I bought a new car tonight. I've avoided car payments for 10 years, but this is too important. Time to go to the bank and sign my life away for 60 months.

12-03-04 Lab results received. Perfect b/p, perfect cholesterol, no pre-diabetes. Well within all normal ranges for all categories. I guess that means all my blood is healthy and red with no creepy crawlies swimming around in it. So far.

12-16-04 First visit with the nutritionist. CORRECTION: Turned out to be a lecture by a dietician.

12-22-04 PCP called me. Got my paperwork post-lecture and asked once more if I wanted WLS. Yes. I'm now awaiting Approval for a consult with WLS Team in So San Francisco

01-07-05 Approved! Appointment in 12 weeks in South San Francisco.

04-19-05 First Bariatric Lifestyles class in South San Francisco.

05-12-05 Nutritional Consult completed

05-19-05 First Consult with Dr. Stiles, the head of the SSF Bariatric program. Went very well. I like her. Have lost 14 lbs since I started this. Told to lose 10 more for an open rny, or 20 for a laproscopic RNY. That means I'll lose 30, to make SURE it's laproscopic!

06-28-05 First Consult with surgeon, Dr. Richard Li, scheduled.

07-01-05 Second Bariatric Lifestyles class in South San Francisco scheduled.

11-00-05 All Classes Concluded; Waiting for my date to arrive --- 2006 will be a new experience!

02-27-06 Surgical consult. All systems go! All pre-op weight loss accomplished, all things appear to be in order. Will now be on a waiting list for a date in April or May 2006.

04-21-06 Pre Op Seminar.

05-16-06 Pre-Op Tests, Appointments and Orientation

05-18-06 My surgery date at South San Francisco. See my web link for the complete gory story.

05-31-06 Staples removed; 10 lbs down (43 pre op), for 53 total.

06-09-06 All of my journal entries have been moved to my blog, shown above.
