My Story

I have ALWAYS struggled with my weight and keeping it on the good side; the healthy side. Grew up wearing "womens" clothes as a young adult/teenager put me even more of an outcast. The term "outcast" isn't my personality. I do have drive, but food is my weakness. I lost 30lbs when I was in high school to get a good grade on my senior project. Thanks to my father, who is a nationally certified trainer. But then I met this Wonderful guy! And we started dating and going out and eating cheeseburgers HA! So that 30lbs I gained back ....and then some. Fast forward and 100lbs later, we are having a wonderful marriage. My health issues start to arrrrrise!!!!  So basically I'm 24 and I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Sydrome (PCOS), after a looooongg difficult one year of denial of high blood pressure...I'm stubborn :) So when I came to terms with the BP problem and did something about it, I started taking my health more seriously. Thank GOD! Because I didn't really want to be 24 and be on meds for BP.. wake up call! Eh?
So hear I am thinking seriously about loosing weight. I have been given the opportunity by my doctor to have bariatric surgery. But I tell her no. Honestly, I don't think it's the right thing for me. I don't agree with the surgery for myself. By all means to others, If you think you need it, then rightfully so. But for me I don't think it would be teaching me the right things, in the long run.   For me, I know I am able to loose the weight and keep it off, but I have to relearn those "good eating habits" to keep it off. I just think surgery, for me, is one foot in the direction toward fooling myself and causing more damage. But that's. Just. me.

However, I am open to hearing/ reading about other's journey on bariatric surgery, and I am here to support and for support. I am very interested in a vegetarian diet and protein shakes, learning to live healthier, eat healthier, raw/natural foods, exersize programs, yoga and meditation. Anything spiritual, I am very interested.
