Sleeved on 12/19
on December 22, 2012 6:06 pm

Surgery went smooth; I didn't need any pain meds following, and was up and walking fairly quickly.  I am working on getting all my protein in, up to 55g. today, and liquids.  Can't wait for soups and other purees next week.  So far so good, just nap ALOT.

Surgery date 12/19/12
on November 7, 2012 10:36 am

Finally got my surgery date.  I can't wait!  I have my pre-op on 12/6 to sign all my paperwork, see the nutritionist to go over my pre/post op instructions, and to see the anesthesiologist.  I can't believe I'm doing this, but am so ready for a new me.  I've fought the fat for 10+ years and am tired of losing the battle, and with this surgery I WILL SUCCEED!!

Got my approval today!
on November 5, 2012 5:04 pm

I'm so excited.  They actually approved me for the RnY-DS (I wanted the VSG-DS), but since the Dr. said my insurance wouldn't approve the DS because my BMI wasn't high enough he suggested having the VSG, as that was the only procedure that kept the pyloric valve intact, which is what I wanted.  So I began researching the VSG, and know feel that it would probably be a better choice for me and it doesn't involve such a risky surgery due to no rearranging of the intestines.  So they are having the approval "updated" for the VSG, which won't be a problem since it's less risky and therefore cheaper.  I hope the next 6 weeks fly by quickly.....I can't wait to shed this body and get healthy.

So excited to almost have a surgery date
on October 13, 2012 2:04 pm
Today I had my nutritional evaluation and was given clearance for surgery.  She will send my release to the surgeon, they will then submit all the info to the insurance company and they will approve/deny the surgery.  I'm sure they will approve it without any hesitation....and my surgery date will be 12/19/12 as soon as the approval is received.  Can't wait for this to happen....if I didn't have to worry about being off of work for 2 weeks I wouldn't be waiting until then.  However, i need my job and the clinic closes down from xmas eve until after the 1st of the year anyway so I figured that would be the time to do it because at least then I don't have to worry about it affecting my job...and of course my boss appreciates it.   At least I can enjoy one last Thanksgiving will all the food I love and not have to worry about eating it 2 oz. at a time :)

4 requirements down...1 to go
on September 11, 2012 8:10 pm
I had my Upper GI, EKG, chest x-rays and psych eval today.  Waiting on the nutritionist.  It's moving very fast. I just hope they can get me approved so I can have the surgery over my xmas break from work, but I'll do it whenever the robot is available I guess.  So excited.....
