PCOS Lady's Journey

"You are as healthy as a horse"  is all i heard by my MD and Gyno growing up... Then in May 2003 i was told "You look like me"... She enlightened me on PCOS... We carried our extra weight in our chins, tummies and abdomens... Truth was i had a time bomb ticking in me my whole life!

My PCOS Journey started with seeing her MD, a battery of tests and having Gastric Bypass Surgery offered as an option... I qualified due to heart diease and lipids test results...

I opted to try losing weight and taking Glucophage XR 500mg daily... I dropped 6 full dress sizes and 30 pounds in 4 months! I found my "miracle" pill!  Gluc is my maintenance pill when i need to lose weight...
-   Glucophage is the name brand per Bristol Myers Squibb...
-   Metformin is the generic name...
-   Opted since i am not one for invasive ways until nothing else is an option...

From my journey i have researched numerous topics and learned a wealth of information... I create blogs to enlighten, inform and educate everyone about PCOS and related conditions and topics... PCOSLady at wordpress and PCOSLady at blogdrive ...

Overweight, i have learned there are four types why people are...  I realize weight loss surgery is the only option for some people... Determination and willpower play a huge part in changing your lifestyle and after surgery... 

I strongly suggest everyone thinking of slimming down and considering surgery to:
1)    Have all your hormones checked...
2)    Have the Serum Insuilin Level blood test done to see if you really need surgery or can thin down through non surgical means...

Rule out other conditions causing your weight problem(s) and treat them 1st ... Then decide if surgery is needed...

I hope to learn more about obesity surgery and information from in here... I have already gained great info on sugar substitutes...
