Surgeon TestimonialJ. Paul Ross, M.D.My 1st impression of Dr. Ross was he is very knowledgable in his field. That has not changed. Dr. Ross is an awesome, caring Dr. and a Christian man too! I have been very impressed by his bedside manner and always willing to answer any questions I have had or offer suggestions for my being able to better deal with things related to my surgery. He is so caring and definitly a GODSEND. I am so thankful our paths have crossed and his GOD given skill has given me a new lease on life!rnrnDr. Ross has an awesome WLS support group and they emphasize getting in your protein, vitimins, water, and exercise. He fully explained the risks of surgery, which I feel in my case were far outweighed by the benefits of my loosing weight! rnrnDr. Ross is a very competant surgeon and I would rate his bedside manner as a 10! rnThank you Dr. Ross for my new lease on life!

A new year, a new me! on January 15, 2009 6:15 pm
I am almost 10 months out, it will be 10 months on January 25th! I have lost 112 pounds! That is 112 pounds from my start weight of 316. I weigh 204. That is 102 pounds down from my "home from the hospital" weight of 306. I feel sooo much better these days! I can feel collar bones and butt bones! I see cheek bones! I don't have multiple chins these days! WHEW! I am loving my RNY! Life is good. My personal life at the moment is a mess. My husband and I are no longer living under the same roof. 2008 proved to be a rough year. He had open heart surgery and I had my gastric bypass. Due to his heart surgery(before it) his energy level was going down as mine went up. He is still my biggest cheerleader and I love him dearly. But I do have a new man in my life, since this summer. He is a great guy and we grow closer everyday. I am in love with two men! Leave it to me to F--K up a good thing! My husband is great and did nothing wrong. I am to blame. But none the less, I am loving life these days and all it has to offer!!!!! BTW, in case you didn't gather that, the two men are my husband and my bf! I know, leave it to me to make things complicated.

I can now wear a size 14-16 depending on how it is made. I can wear large and xtra large now instead of 2x -4x clothes! Yippee!
Seeing people I haven't seen in a while is always a blast! People doing double takes and "I almost didn't reconize you!" are always nice! I love my RNY!
I'll write more later, sorry so slack these past 6 months. I love you my cyber family at OH!

I hope to ride every roller coaster in the park! If by chance I can't fit into one of them, well, I know I WILL be little enough next year no doubt in my mind!!!!
I wanted to share with my OH cyberfamily something I found.

TUESDAY May 20, 2008 * 8 weeks out from surgery
down 51 pounds this morning * weight 255 pounds
I can't tell you how happy I am with my RNY. I finally feel like I have some control over things. It is simply amazing the way this surgery works and the benefits from it. The main reason I have never been able to stick with a diet for very long was hunger. With this, I have to remind myself to eat, I have to make myself get in all my water, vitamins and protein. I am simply amazed, I am 8 weeks out from surgery and down 51 pounds! WOOHOO! I am hoping to be down to 250 by the end of this month or at least by the time we go to Carowinds on June 7th. I hit a long stall earlier this month and I hope that is over with. I realize they will come along, BUT it still drives me crazy!
I am out of MOST of my 3X's, except for those that run really small. I can wear most of my 2X's,, except for those that run really small...lol. I have a pair of jean cut off shorts I am hoping to get into soon, they are a size 20 and way too tight right now, I'll update when I can fit into those....lol...
I am sitting here thinking about the past 8 weeks, I went from 306 to down under 300, that was cool. Then into the 280's, then 270's then 260's then now into the 250's, it is SOOOO FREAKING COOL!
I have had people ask about WOW MOMENTS, so here they are
* I was vacumming and my panites fell off! Yep, it happened, I was shocked and stood there giggling!
* To realize I weigh at least 25 pounds LESS than what my driver's license say I do, (I fudged by 36 pounds then, said I weighed 280 when I was 316)...you ladies can relate I am sure, what woman tells the truth with that????
* My pants coming off without unbuttoning or zipping them!
* Sitting in church Wednesday night I crossed my legs, my husband looked at me and I realized what I had done! OMG, that was so cool!
* I actually have a lap my Bible will fit onto now, I can rest my Bible on my lap instead of my belly!
* The bra extenders are off all my bras now! YIPPEE(I think...lol..I know this is due to losing weight in that area, some of the girth, not just the tits...lol)
* There is plenty of room between my belly and the steering wheel now, it used to rub the steering wheel...YUCK!
* I had two people in ONE day(Sunday) call me skinny...NOW, that in it's self is hilarious! NOBODY is skinny at 257 pounds! That is what I weighed Sunday!
I AM SURE THERE ARE MORE AND I WILL ADD AS I REMEMBER OR THEY HAPPEN...LOL

A WEEKEND OUT OF TOWN
We went out of town this past weekend to a craft show in the Jacksonville Mall in Jacksonville, NC. it was interesting being away from home and seeing how I would do. I held fast to the plan and drank plenty of water(chomped on ice all day). Ate protein first and got in my vitimins. I got home and hopped on the scales and low and behold the stall is over! YIPPEE! I am down 48 pounds from my coming home from the hospital weight(306), and 58 from this time last year! I went for a week without losing anything, that was scary! BUT hopefully we are on the move again!
I must say I was a little dissappointed in myself this weekend. I say that because I really expected to do better energy wise and with my back hopefully NOT hurting as much. I mean 45-48 pounds is nothing to sneeze at. I really hoped I wouldn't feel so drained at the end of the day from working, BUT 12 hours is a LOOONNNNG time to be standing on your feet, waiting on people. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the work we do. We do the meaning of names and personalized poems, and BOY were we busy this weekend! BUT I loved it! I love doing that, just wish my body was more cooperative! My back ached so bad by the time we left the mall Friday and Saturday night, I was hunched over like a 90 year old woman! Sunday was a short day due to blue laws, we got at the mall right at 12 noon and were busy till we ended our day at 6 pm. THEN we had to pack up and move on out of there! Talk about the fun part...NOT! My back hurt, my knee hurt like crazy! I was so worn out! BUT hey, our food bill was waaayyyy less this time than any other time we have ever traveled and done this craft show! So that was great! I must admit I never realized how much food I ate before, or how much I really enjoyed eating! BUT when you know you will get sick if you eat something or you will feel terrible, it puts quiet the damper on your appetite! I eat so little now and I feel full! I love it. BUT I must admit I do miss the wrong foods. I use to eat 4-5 pieces of pizza, my favorite food. NOW I do good to eat the toppings off one piece! Cheescake, forget it, I ain't even attempting that one! My husband and I used to eat a piece of cheesecake every night after we had sex. I know, how great is that???? Sexercise and then cheesecake!!! OH the habits we form and then we wonder how did we get this way! After having this surgery and seeing how little I eat, it is no wonder I wasn't way bigger than 316! BUT I must say I lOVE MY POUCH! No way I would be losing this weight without this surgery, and changing my eating habits along the way, it is awesome! We eat to live now, NOT live to eat!
BTW I have a head cold or sinus infection or something of the like going on! My whole head is congested and I've been slinging snot all day(I know a lovely way to put it huh?). BUT true, if any of you reading this know something I can take for it let me know. I have been using the nasel rinse solution and it seems to help somewhat. BUT it will be hard to breathe one minute and my nose running the next!!!! HELP!!!!?????
OK, got to hit the sack now. You guys keep me in your prayers and oh BTW I have a friend, Robyn, who is going through a rough time right now, pray for her too!

JOURNEY OF A LIFETIME!
I am a 40 year old mother of two boys and married to the most wonderful man. I weighed 134 at my lowest in High School. Needless to say, I haven't seen that since! My first pregnancy I gain over 70 pounds. My second another 50. After my hysterectomy in '04 another 50! I have done every diet in the land it seems, only to loose the same 25 pounds over and over and gain them back and more! I am tired of diets that do not work. I want a permanent solution. I am ready for GBS, and willing to do whatever it takes to get healthy and lean again. I am starting this journey at 316 in June 2007.
Been there and done that, I've got a bigger t-shirt to prove it! I have been overweight since my first child. I was 134 lbs. in high school, needless to say, I haven't seen that since! I gained with both children and did not lose it all either time! Then a hysterectony in '04 put my weight over 300 lbs. for the first time ever!
