Surgeon Testimonial

Thomas Clark
After meeting with Dr. Clark and additional members of staff today I am so happy to part of such a wonderful team! I finally got my surgery date--Sept 20th--and everyone was so pleasant and patient during the process. I have all my appointments scheduled all the way until November! I am ready to begin my new life and, as Dr. Clark would say, "make it a healthy one"!

What a difference a day makes!!!!
on October 23, 2011 9:02 am
I cannot believe that I lost another 3 lbs in one day! I know it was not the personal traning session yesterday but I am thrilled that I lost 3 lbs since yesterday! Today makes one month and 3 days after surgery and I am down 40 lbs since my surgery date!

That means I lost 35 lbs in the first month and 5 lbs in 3 days! Since my doctor says you lose an average of 10 - 12 lbs after the firs tmonth of surgery, I'm glad to have a head start of 5 lbs in 3 days! I really pray that for the remaining part of this second month I can lose a minimum of 20-25 lbs. I want to end my two months after surgery w/a 50 to 60 lb weight loss!

What we call small victories are mountains that have...
on October 22, 2011 5:20 pm

One month and one day after surgery and I was 37 lbs down. Now tell me why that upset me when there is no way in the world I would have been 37 lbs down in 31 days without surgery! It took me awhile, with the encouragement of my friends, to realize that what I have accomplished is huge and much greater than a scale can ever tell.

1) On the same day I had an HR meeting and was able to sit for hours in a chair that at higher weights I broke.

2) The ability to walk in a room from whatever parking distance and sit down and not be winded, sweaty or out of breath.

3) No longer having extreme cravings for junk food, high sugarery items or high carbs items. Just because you can have something does not mean you should.

4) Turning down donuts, chips and fancy pastries that my co-worker bought in on Friday.

5) Having a new lease on life and being in control!

I am proud and happy with my new life now and this is the best decision that I have made! The freak outs, moments of discomfort even the tears were all worth it to be on the track that I am now. I am finally losing weight and it is permanent. I feel better than I have ever!

I cannot imagine the differences three, six, nine or even twelve months from now! For the first time in my life soon I will be a normal thin young woman. All the limitations that my weight has placed on me for over 30 years will be eliminated.

Oh, one wonderful thing I forgot to report from the doctor’s office: my blood pressure was 117/85! The last time I was there it was 136/90! Thank you Lord Jesus!

No quick fix/sometimes depressed but I will survive
on October 16, 2011 5:16 pm
I posted these comments to one of the VSG post but I think I should share them here and elaborate:

I have been having a rough 1 1/2 weeks. Thursday will make one month since surgery and it has really been an ordeal trying to introduce different foods in. A lot of times i just rather not eat at all because you never know how things will turn out.

I haven't vomited yet but I certainly have felt like I needed to! I have definitely had diarrhea episodes but thank God those were just a few. Few or not, you feel like crap and can't wait for it to be over.

All I can say is that the vets all tell me that things will get better further down the road. I hope so because sometimes things can get a little depressing. I just remind myself of how much better I feel and my progress and why I got WLS in the first place and look forward to a brighter day.

I am not regretting surgery but for those that think this is a quick fix IT IS NOT! I am proud of my 33 pound loss (which I pray is higher by my one month weigh in but it is what it is). I can really see why some people have eating disorders after surgery! I am committed to health and I refuse to be sick behind this. I even was loving getting back to exercise--Taebo and Zumba--until I had a minor exercise injury (trying to get healthy can kill, lol).

I do feel strong and energized most days but it is hard to adjust to the slower eating, the different feelings based on what I eat and how fast I eat and constantly trying to meet my protein requirements. I couldn't wait to get to the point where I could eat something; now most days I wish I could just consume all liquids!

It will get better, it just has to. One day I will look back and laugh at these moments and say they were absolutely necessary and worth it for my final results. I will not let fear and defeat take me over. I will count my blessings and just focus on those.

28 lbs in 14 days and I can officially eat mushed...
on October 4, 2011 1:20 pm
This has been the greatest ride and/or point in my life ever! I am down 28 lbs in 14 days and I am pretty much tolerate everything. I enjoyed going into my post op appt and knowing that the scale was lower than the last time I was there. It is so hard to believe that health and weight loss is my new life now.

I also cannot believe that I am not suffering from knee arthritis anymore. My routine of having an Osteo Biflex everyday or else I'd be in pain is OVER! Stop the day of surgery and I never had to take another. This is the best life ever and I am living it to the fullest.

Oh, while I was playing it forward, I purchased a ticket to one of my favorite comedians who is coming here on November 10th! I usually avoid large facilities and obsess over where I am going to sit and park but now--it doesn't matter! I got a close seat and I know that I can fit comfortably and just focus on a great show! The bonus is that I will be even smaller and healthier by then!
