Archery Season 2012

Sep 23, 2012

Well, I was really looking forward to this Archery season.  A good frined of mine and also a RNY patient was coming up for a week and we would be hunting with my Dad for Elk.  The weather was extremely hot and dry and the Elk were very elusive.  We hiked no less than 5mi per day and climed several mountains in search.  We covered a lot of country but never were able to close the deal.  I left weighing 266lb and returned weighing the same...we ate good at camp, no junk just good camp food.  I was able to get a couple grouse while on the search for elk and they ate very good as well. :)  Anyways, some pictures below of the hunts.

I sat in the blind with my Dad one morning and he was able to get a little buck....his first archery blacktail in 15 years of trying....it's amazing what you can see between naps. :)

We had a doe and fawn stay in camp with us all week...they came by every day and really enjoyed our corn and spuds.

Our guests. They can by camp just about every day.  Last night they were messing around my tent eating and carrying on.

We came across several wild horse heards...they started looking tasty near the end of the week. :)

Wild horses....if I don't see an elk soon..........hmmm

The last day we tried to sit on a water hole...many more deer but no elk.  We ran out of daylight and climed out of the blind only to spook a herd of elk not 40 yards away...10min of daylight and they would have been our lap.....oh well....next year.

Trying a different tactic

Good times...oh and by the way...this flease is an XL :-)
