My new Steed and breaking through a barrier.

Nov 17, 2012

Well, I have been stuck at 255lb for coming on two months now and it has been wearing on me.  This last week I really buckled down and got down to basics, three protein shakes  a day and a high protein dinner to try and break through.  Last Saturday we went on a mountain bike ride and I caught a cold so I wasn't very active all week...it was below freezing and we had some snow to deal with but it was a GREAT ride.

A rare picture of me, I am usually behind the camera.

A childhood friend of mine rides his mountain bike to work almost every day over some great trails and a couple tough, steep ridges.  I was at his house checking out his new Santa Cruz Blur when he made me an offer on his trusty Giant VT1 that was too good for me to pass up!!!  We went for a quick impromptu ride and I came home with a VERY well build and fun bike.

A picture from the trail he rides to work....terrable isn't it.

It poured down rain last night so everything was slick and muddy...giving the bikes a well deserved bath.

I am one very happy camper right now, the wife is over the pictures and me talking about the bike already!  After taking a well deserved hot shower when getting home I jumped on the scale and was also very pleased to see I was 248lb!!  Good by 250, you will not be missed.  I cam on cloud nine right now and wishing the snow on the radar will hold off so I can get some riding in.

Riding with Vets on their day!

Nov 11, 2012

I am honored to have several friends who are Veterans and or currently serving in the Armed Forces.  We planned on hitting the Klamath Ridge View Trail once again today not knowing we would wake up to temperatures in the teens and a skiff of snow.  Never one to let a little cold stop us we decided to ride anyhow.  :-)  At the start it was a brisk 32 F but had not started to snow yet.

Mike making his way around the brush piles along the trail.

We stopped at a tight spot in the trail that has a great view.

I finally got the guys to stand still long enough for a group shot. :-)

This trail never gets old....even in the cold. Looking back toward town.

Dave two months out from a Kidney Transplant.....doing great, this is not an easy trail espically with snow and mud!!!

A rare picture with me in it. :)  I have been stuck at 255lb for almost 2 months now but really trying to push through.

She has a few miles on her but still a solid ride.

We dropped down to the road and took it back, cold air hell on the lungs.  Dave with some mud chunks, not the best day to wear white.

I am very thankful that I can get out and ride, even in these conditions.  I have a solid group of friends that push me often.  Sense my RNY I am actually able to push these guys and not just lag behind....they are playing catchup at times which is great.

Until next time.
