Wednesday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench!

My Story

I have been overweight as long as I can remember. I have seen pictures of me as a young child and I was thin. very thin.  I guess somewhere around age 4 or 5 I started gaining weight and it never stopped. I have lost alot of weight a few times only to gain it back. Then came the kids well after my first one my husband left for Iraq when he was 10 days old. So here I was a new mom and a husband in a war zone. I lost alot of weight while he was gone because I was dealing with a very sick baby and was just so stressed out if I ate it made me sick. Well he came home about 2 weeks after Hurricane Katrina destroyed everything we owned and then some.  Well him being in the military was a blessing at that point they helped out alot things got comfortable and I started gaining the weight back. Then after him being home only a few months I was pregnant again. This time pregnancy was an ugly monster. The baby was positioned in a way that he pushed on my pelvis that it made the bones rub together and it hurt to even walk so I just kept on gaining weight. I was over 300 pounds the day I delivered him.  Well at this point I had a new born and one about to be 2 and was huge. I was miserable with myself which in turn made me miserable with anyone else around me. I started really looking into having gastric bypass sometime around Feburary 2007 but was just taking my time. I told my husband I wanted to do it and he said if it made me happy then go ahead so with his blessing I started the process in May and had my surgery on September 5,2007.  The first few weeks were hard because I had a complication that was more of a freak accident that my body did than anything else.  Some people ask me if i regret it because of the complications and I will gladly say no way in hell do I regret anything. I would have this surgery again tomorrow if I had too. It is a rollar coaster as my husband puts it because my hormones are crazy my anxitey is out the roof and everything I eat is trial and error. My family says they see that I am happier since the weight is coming off and I do find I have alot more energy and can kinda keep up with a 1 year old and a 3 year old but they still do a number on me most days because they just have way too much energy for such 2 small little human beings, but they are the main reason I decided to do this because I was to have fun and enjoy them while they are young and take them on vacations and to the park to run around and all those other fun things that kids deserve to do. So at this point I am just under 2 months out and my outlook on life had totally changed and I look forward to getting up in the mornings and doing things with my husband and kids. This surgery has given me my life back.
