Surgeon Testimonial

Kevan E. Mann
I met Dr. Mann the first week of January and I like him very much, he explained things to me in great detail and it made me feel very comfortable about my upcoming surgery.

Tuesday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench!

What a week!!!!
on August 25, 2007 11:42 am
Wow it's been a heck of a week here in The Snyder Household, but it's been a good week.. Tuesday I had my surgery and woke up Wednesday morning asking myself what the fuck did i do to myself.. Now I know that was the pain talking cause by the time I got settled into a room on Wednesday afternoon and off the pain pump and was able to start having ice chips and then jello later in the evening I started feeling alot better about what I had just done.  I was released early Thursday morning after being able to tolerate breakfast. Jeff and the kids picked me up at about 11am and then we headed home, only to encounter a wreck or broke down car in the tunnel we were headed into so we had to stop on the bridge and wait a good  half an hour before we were able to continue home.. By the time I got home I was wiped out and spend the rest of the day in bed resting and watching TV. Yesterday was better I woke up about 9am and spend all day downstairs with Jeff and the kids and stayed down here till about 830pm and went up and to bed when the kids did.. I watched TV for a few hours and went to bed about 11pm... I got up around 8am and have managed my 2oz of  yogurt for breakfast and then a bottle of water, lunch is about that much cottage cheese and after this settles i'll start back on my water again... Now that I've had a shower and been able to shave my legs I almost feel human again!!! LOL... we all know how women get about their legs... That's all about for me today... I'm sure i'll be sending in weekly updates on my progress!!! Hope everyone has a great weekend and a great week to follow!!!

just another update from me!!!!
on June 6, 2007 11:07 am
I'm still alive, lol!!! I know I've posted here and there but I wanted to let everyone know what is going on in my world. Some of you know that I've been talking about having gastric bypass surgery and thought I was going to at the beginning of the yr but due to some problems with my blood work we had to put it on hold, well after having blood work done last week I found out that all my labs were where they wanted them to be and they moved me to the Pre-Op list and I have my Pre-Op appt on June 29th!! I'm so friggin excited that I can't stand it and due to my upcoming vacation back to TX I ll have to wait till mid-August to have it unless I forgo my trip and use my tickets at a later time which I'm considering doing.. But if I go before surgery I'll get to enjoy all the TEX-MEX one more time!!!   I've started preparing myself for this by switching to sugar free stuff on somethings, and now I just need to get sodas totally out of my system including diet (which I cant' stand). I joined the YMCA in January and have recently signed up with a fitness instructor and use the fitlinx machines, I love it and I love being able to work out for more than 5 minutes and being tired....   In other news the kids are growing like crazy!!! Logan is potty training again this summer ( I think doing it last summer was too soon) and he's doing pretty good!!! He still has his moments but for the most part he's doing good, we've almost got him completely trained during the day now we have to work on nights!!!!   Hope everyone is having a wonderful week....     Missy

It's finally happening and I don't believe it!!!!!

My protein level is finally up and I can schedule pre-op, now to wait for a call back to get an appt!!! I'm so freaking happy right now I'm ready to dance all over the place!!!! i'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can get in to pre-op asap!!!!!!!

I emailed back and forth with Dr. Mann yesterday and he said he's the only surgeon at PNH right now so it is looking like July before I can get in for pre-op and possibly August before surgery...I'll be out of town the first week in August but after that it's all down hill.... I'm so excited I could hardly sleep last night!!! Hope everyone has a great day and an awesome weekend!!!!!

Well Hell, what else can go wrong

I went back on Monday to have my labs done again to check my iron and protein levels, my iron is up to 87 and the nutritionist is happy with that however my protein levels are at 3.2 and she wants it at 3.4 she had me up my protein for 3 weeks after my appt with her and it stayed the say so no now I have to continue doing this for another 3 weeks and who's to say the numbers will go up , i was so mad when she called me yesterday so now i'm waiting another 3 weeks and then probably another 3 to 4 weeks after that before I can get in to pre-op and then what another month after that before I get my surgery!!! Needless to say I haven't been a happy camper here towards the end of all this... Hope everyone is having a great week...

My Story

OMG where do I begin??It seems i've been overweight my whole life. I remember being thin in my first grade school pictures and I think the summer between first and second grade was when my weight gradually started moving up and I love food it's always been a comfort to me... I've tried fad diets and lost but always gained it back plus more. I've tried WW and gained it back too. We were overseas for 3 yrs and unfortunately they didn't do the surgery at our base or refer out because of the cost. So I had to wait till we were back state side and now we are and have been since March this yr and I've been on the waiting list since May and I'm just sitting and waiting for it to be MY turn... The list seemed to be moving really fast then hit a snag and it hasn't moved for 3 weeks now and to me that is just really frustrating!!!!! I want my life back, I want to be able to run and play with my kids and not get tired after 2 minutes... I think in the long run I want to be able to run a marathon, not a huge one but I want to say that I've run one!!
