Hi Angela, Good luck with you surgery. It may be tough the first few weeks, but take it from someone who has just gone through this, after you pass the frist few weeks it's the best thing ever. You'll feel and look great. If you need any advise or just want to vent, feel free to drop me a line. .....dave

Testing Schedule
on July 17, 2007 1:30 pm
7/13 physical with PCP, he did bloodwork and the EKG at this visit so hoping I dont have to do those again. Also diagnosed me with Sleep Apnea and said he will make referrals for sleep study, endocrinologist (I have PCOS) and a referral to Dr Pohl.

7/30 Ovarian Ultrasound (For PCOS purposes)

8/6 First consultation with NUT - Found out I am most likely Insulin Resistant and might have to go on Metformin, I'm hoping this wont slow the process down.  NUT wants me to watch carbs, but other than that says I'm eating well, we went over what to expect from the surgery and the meal plans post-op. I asked for a low carb diet to follow and am going to go in once a month.

8/9 WLS Seminar at Roger Williams with Dr Pohl- Awesome! I finally met Dr Pohl as well as Dr. Giovanni, the information was great and the seminar was packed!

8/10 Second round of bloodwork

8/17 Psych Consult- Went well but we ran out of time and have to finish up next week.

8/22 Psych Consult-(continuation)I passed!!!!

8/23 Abdominal Ultrasound (including Gall Bladder) Looks like I'll be one of those who have to have the gall bladder taken out, the tech said its full of stones. oh well, might as well happen with surgery I guess.

8/23 Follow up visit with PCP to evaluate how things are going-Good news first-- I've lost 16 pound and the dr is writing a letter to send to Dr Pohl recommending surgery and saying that I'm physically able to handle the surgery.  Bad news....I am insulin Resistant, the dr said my insulin levels were double what they should be, so I've been put on Metform and have to see the endocrinologist to tweak that. He also had more blood drawn because of my platelet count, its still well below normal.

9/1 Sleep Study- First Visit - Who can sleep with all those wires and things in your nose? Took about an hour or so but I finally did get to sleep. Now its a waiting game for results.

9/7- NUT-Second Visit

9/14 Cardiology Consult- I have a small heart murmur so I have to have test to see whats causing it. Still the cardiologist says its not a problem and I'm cleared for surgery.

9/24- I got in on a cancellation with Dr Pohl, he told me today that I'm looking at the beginning of November for surgery! I have one more test, which is the EGD and the paperwork will be going up today for insurance approval. Things are moving along nicely.

10/2 Echocardiogram and Stress Test- This went very well, I got in and was immediately taken back. They injected me with some radioactive stuff and then I sat for 45 minutes. Then they hooked me up to a buch of stuff and did an EKG, following that I had to get on a very narrow table and was scooted into a machine which took pictures of my heart at work for about 20 minutes. Waited some more, then got another injection to make my heart simulate exercise and waited once again. Another round of EKG, another round in the machine and then I was done. All said, it took about 4 hours.

10/5 - EGD, honestly, I remember being prepped for this and then being woke up in recovery. No pain, nothing. My husband however has had a lot of fun with the fact that I was out of it after the anesthesia.

10/15 I got APPROVED by the insurance company today!!!! Now, I only have the follow-up with the surgeon and then its time to get my date!!!

10/18 PCP Follow up

10/25 Endocrinologist

10/25 - Second follow-up with surgeon. We're ready and surgery is scheduled for 11-13.

10/31 - Pre-op testing

11/13 - SURGERY DATE
