James K. Weber M.D. My first impression of Dr. Weber was that he was so intent on helping people combat obesity. After the first appt with him I knew he was the right surgeon for the job. I thanked my PCP profusely for referring me to him. His office staff was wonderful, after the first appt they remembered my name and who I was and made me feel like everything was going to be ok. He's tough, I had to lose about 20 lbs before surgery and keep food logs and excercise logs, but soon realized that for the first time in my life I was accountable for the things I put in my body. He was straightforward about the risks of surgery, but still made me feel like I would be ok. He's a brilliant surgeon, and caring doctor, and a creator of hope. I couldn't have asked for a better surgeon.
Wow... well I am almost 7 months pregnant and sooo loving it!! You can actually TELL that I'm pregnant!! LOL Anyway, also found out that one of my WLS buddies, Krystal, is also pregnant. Yay for us!! :)
Anyway, just a little update since I haven't been on in forever!!
Well, a lot has been happening... I am 10 weeks pregnant with my second child and soooo excited!! This was one of the reasons I had the surgery, so I could be pregnant (and GET pregnant) at a healthy weight. Yay!!!!!
The only sad thing is that my husband leaves soon to go on a 7-month deployment and won't be here--- but he will come home to a beautiful new baby!! :)
HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO ME!!! WHAT A WONDERFUL YEAR IT HAS BEEN!!! I AM LITERALLY HALF THE SIZE I WAS THIS TIME LAST YEAR---- DOWN 189 LBS!!! YAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, I forgot!!! A few days ago I tried (just for fun , mind you) size 8 jeans.... and was able to get them on!!!! NEVER have I been able to fit into a size 8!!! Now, I couldn't breathe, but still!!!!!!!! lol
Stuck at 186 all week-- fluctuated down to 182 but then got really thirsty and drank a lot of gatorade and water and gained back 4 lbs! lol The nodule in my thight is just a calcified fat--- yay! But now I have to go on "replacements" because my electrolytes, calcium, potassium, sodium, and glucose were down below normal. On Thursday I have to go to my PCM (who I don't like) and see what I need to take, then I'm going to try to switch PCM's because part of the reason I haven't been going as much as I should. I'll be better about it!
Like most people on here I was heavy as a child... not so heavy in high school , I was very athletic, playing volleyball, basketball, and softball. But after high school I just seemed to gain each year. I was about 280 when my husband and I got married. My daughter was born about 9 months later and I weighed in at 317 when I went in to have her. That was three years ago. In September of 2006 I finally decided to do something about my weight gain. I went to my surgeon's WLS seminar and scheduled an appt to see him a couple weeks later. When I went to see him I was shocked, SHOCKED to see on the scale: 374. GULP
I have a looonnnggg way to go. I had my open RNY on Dec 27-- 2 days after Christmas. I got on the scale the day before yesterday and saw 319... how good that feels. I had been required to lose about 20 lbs before surgery, but I still count that as part of this wonderful journey.
