Surgeon Testimonial

Van Wagner, M.D.
Attended free seminar that reall enlightened me on all my options. Dr Wagner's staff were very helpful. I liked that he specialized in bariatric surgery and works at a center of excellence. rnrnHe was able to do my sleeve procedure with a single incision through my belly button. The post surgery pain was minimal (the hospital makes sure you have plenty of pain meds to keep you pain free).rnrnI was able to leave the hospital after 1 night. In less then 2 weeks, my incision is pretty much healed. rnrnOverall, I highly recommend Dr Wagner and his staff. The nursing students at St. Alexius could have used more assistance from the qualified nurses. But the entire experience was overall very good. rnrnI would highly recommend Dr Wagner.

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I was a stress eater (specifically sweets). Every night I indulged in some sort of dessert before bed (ice cream, candy, cookies, etc..). I often ate just lunch and dinner. I would eat a very large dinner where I would eat way beyond the feeling of fullness. I am only 2 weeks out on my surgery and still look at certain foods (chocolate) and want to taste it. Fortunately, I have no appetite at this time.

1 Month Post VSG
on July 2, 2009 6:16 pm
Saturday will be one month since I had VSG surgery.  I am nearing the 40 pounds weight lost since starting pre-surgery diet to date.  I feel much better already even though I am still quite overweight and have a long way to go.  I have started eating more normal foods again which has given me energy again.  This is my first week with any meat and I am in heaven.  My appetite has returned but it is so crazy that I can feel satisified now with so little portions.  My goal for the month is to increase my activity level.  This will probably be a bigger challenge then the liquid diet.  I did buy a bike.  My 4 yr old son loves ridding with me.  I can only handle short distances right now.  I need to walk much more.
