Surgeon Testimonial

Kfir Ben-David
My first impression of Dr. Ben-David has been great so far. His office person Amelia is so helpful. I have had to reschedule my surgery three times now (so I would understand greatly if she were to grow frustrated).rnI am now scheduled for January 20th (I will see Dr. Ben-David in clinic on the 8th to do my pre op). rnMy two clinic appointments as well as the mandatory seminar have been very informative and I feel Dr. Ben-David's up front and open approach makes it extremely easy to talk to him regarding any concerns or issues.rnI will keep you posted as my date gets closer.

Hello, I am a 36yr old wife and mother of a teenage son.  For so long I have battled with my weight as most of us have.  I too feel as if I have been a spectator of life in general.  There are so many things I want to accomplish and have been unable to mainly because of my weight.  2009 will in deed be a new year for me!

ONE YEAR OUT!
on January 27, 2010 6:24 am
WoW!  It's hard to believe a year ago (yesterday) I had surgery that would literally change my life.  All I can say- is thank you God for giving me the opportunity for blessing me with the success I have had post op and giving me a new outlook on life!  I love the new me and know it's all possible because of the man upstairs.  I have had no problems post op and have lost over 100lbs from my heaviest weight!
TRULY BLESSED!

Back to Work
on February 15, 2009 3:01 pm
This past Monday I returned to work (exactly two weeks post).  Everything is going well and I am so fortunate to have not had any problems so far.  My post op follow up appointment was this past Thursday and was given the OK to start exercising and move on to the pureed /soft food stage.

8 Days Post Op
on February 3, 2009 7:45 am
GOD IS SO GOOD!
It has now been eight days since my surgery.  So far I have had no complications and feel GREAT!  I'm tolerating my liquid diet, trying my best to get in that 50-55gms of PROTEIN per day and staying on the move.  I was very fortunate that my procedure was Lap and not open, so this has been a big help.  I weighed last night for the first time- post op, down five more pounds.
Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers.
I'm on the journey and loving it!

Go GATORS!!!

Woooohoooo!!

Last night was awesome-- in more ways than one.  The Florida Gators won the National Championship (second time in three years).  We had a large group of friends over to watch the game and celebrate good times.  At the end of it all -I also realized that would be last time I would be able to eat the way I did at a party.  The burgers, chips, dips, alcohol, sodas- all my favorites would not be my favs for much longer.
Again, I had the mixed emotions--as I ate a burger with all the fixings, snacked on chips and wonderful dips, enjoyed my favorite wine and had a few beers.  I wanted to train my mind by not consuming these things, then again I was like "hey eat your heart and soul out-- this may be your last time".   I could not help but to think how my friends that do not know about my surgery (which was all but two people) feel if they did know, what they would think the next time they saw me (after surgery).
Believe me, this BIG GIRL knows how to party-- but honestly I can't wait to introduce the NEW ME.

Final Countdown
on January 9, 2009 8:48 am
Yesterday (Jan 8) I had my final appointment with my surgeon prior to RNY.  Being an employee here at the hospital (Shands UF) I was able to complete my pre-op testing as well.  Meeting with the dietitian was great- it happened to be the same one our department uses for our patients prior to heart transplant-- so that was added bonus.  My surgeon only requires a one week liquid diet which I will begin Jan 19th.
It was truly a day of emotions-- looking forward to a new way of living, nervous, excited, somewhat sad and even a touch of hesitation.  Having completed my pre- op testing I really feel this is it-- on the way-- the countdown has started!
