Amanda_g, I noticed we have the same exact surgery date! I just got mine about a month ago. March 10th 10:30 AM. I am supposed to have the laprascopic RN-Y. I want to encourage you not to worry about whether or not they will be able to lap vs. open. This is also the plan for my surgery....and I was a bit worried at first, too. Have you ever had an open surgery? I have, and also had many laprascopes due to endometriosis and poly cystic ovary disease. So, I know laprascopes are much quicker recovery, but open isn't that horrible. Yes, it hurts and the recovery is a bit longer, but that is about it. Don't worry. Either way you will be fine I am sure. If you want to we can email and support each other. I wish you all the best. Smiles, Veronica C. David mamadavidsfarm@comca st.net

December update
on December 22, 2009 6:06 am
Need to get some stuff down and out of my system.  The holidays are hard.  Too many temptations and opportunities to over eat and over drink.  I find myself struggling this month.  I finally went to the gym yesterday and it felt good.  Weight loss has slowed a bit but my clothes are still getting bigger.  I think my body is reshaping and even if the pounds are coming off slowly, things are tightening and firming up.

I have lost around 130 lbs since my March surgery.  I feel totally normal now.  I am able to walk into just about any store and buy clothes.  An XL tank at old navy was too big !  a far cry from busting out of 3XLs before surgery.

Does anyone struggle with the social side of weight loss surgery?  Like having a glass of wine with friends or cocktails?
