Amanda_g, I noticed we have the same exact surgery date! I just got mine about a month ago. March 10th 10:30 AM. I am supposed to have the laprascopic RN-Y. I want to encourage you not to worry about whether or not they will be able to lap vs. open. This is also the plan for my surgery....and I was a bit worried at first, too. Have you ever had an open surgery? I have, and also had many laprascopes due to endometriosis and poly cystic ovary disease. So, I know laprascopes are much quicker recovery, but open isn't that horrible. Yes, it hurts and the recovery is a bit longer, but that is about it. Don't worry. Either way you will be fine I am sure. If you want to we can email and support each other. I wish you all the best. Smiles, Veronica C. David mamadavidsfarm@comca st.net

thoughts and reflections

It has been 14 months since I started my weight loss surgery journey.  I have lost over 130 lbs and more than 5 feet in inches !

Physically this has been pretty much a piece of cake...not that I can eat cake, lol.  I am very used to the way I eat now, lots of protein, veggies, some fruit and almost no carbs, no white sugar, white flour.

I do splurge once in a while, but that is ok.  The weight is still coming off, just slower.  I can really see it in my face.  I actually am wearing a two piece bathing suit this summer....my tummy leaves much to be desired, but who cares?  So much better than before.

Mentally it is much harder.  I find that just because you lose weight doesn't mean you lose behaviors and habits.  Like wanting to eat when I am stressed, bored, etc.  Alcohol is different too.  Boy cheap date these days.

Attention that I have been getting is really nice.  After feeling invisible for so long, I forgot what it felt like to get positive attention.  I feel really good and very confident.  Back on the exercise again.  Lots of time swimming and walking plus weights.
