My Story

I guess my story begins at birth.  I have been heavy since I can remember.  I was the "cute" fat little girl.  Despite my size, I had plenty of friends and was quite popular in school, due to my acting ablilities and on-stage demenor.  I went on to college, eventually acheiving my LPN license.  I got married, and have 2 little boys.  I went on living, eating and working.  I work at night, so I do spend much of my days sleeping, even if it is my night off.  I have always wanted to lose weight.  After I topped the scale at over 400 lbs, I knew it was time to do something.

When I went to the doctor for my annual physical, we had talked about the weight loss surgery.  She gave me the info and provided the recommendation for me to go to the first seminar.  After this meeting, my husband and I went to my favorite restaurant, where I had my burger, fries and malt.  I knew that my time with this type of food was going to be over, quite possibly within the year.  But instead of feeling sad, I was relieved that finally I could dream of being the kind of wife and mother that my husband and kids deserve.   I decided right then and there that I was going to do this surgery.

I got approved on my first attempt, and I was to meet my surgeon on July 25th 2006.  We went through everything again, but also needed to lose 30 lbs before surgery.  Never did I think I would lose anything, but with just alittle effort on my part, I lost 23 lbs for surgery.

I had my surgery on Sept 27th 2006.  Everything went as planned and I came through without a hitch,  The lbs are coming off and I feel very thankful that I had the surgery. I have lost 36 lbs since the surgery.   I hope my courage will help other s to also have this life changing event as well.  Stay tuned.......
