Stephen Gooden, M.D. I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Gooden. He is the absolute best!! So far, I've had no complications (almost 3 weeks post-op as of this writing). He has the greatest bedside manner of ANY physician I've ever encountered, on top of being a very skilled and experienced surgeon. He genuinely cares about the welfare of his patients. Add to that a fantastic sense of humor, and you have a near-perfect doctor. I'd recommend him to any and everyone!!!! And if you're not exactly near Augusta, but elsewhere in Georgia or South Carolina, and you're looking for a surgeon, he's definitely worth traveling for. You can't go wrong with Dr. Gooden!

Amy, I know you had
a great surgeon with
Dr. Gooden. And I'm
sure you are going
to like your "new"
body very much as
time goes by. I see
you struggled to get
here and that will
make the
winning/losing all
the sweeter. YOU GO
GIRL!!!
: )
Amy, I am happy to
hear you have made
it through to the
other side. I too
would be
disappointed, I'm
sure, if my surgery
was converted to
open, but I would
definitely perfer to
be safer. I hope
when you return home
you are able to
relax and be
comfortable in your
own bed. I'll keep
check in on you girl
and if you need me,
give a call. Rose

My damned hernia is back with a vengence. Dr. Gooden warned me that since he couldn't mesh it during my April surgery, it'd probably come back - but that sucker was back in less than 3 months! I barely got to enjoy any time being hernialess for the first time in 4 years! Plus I've gained 35 lbs since this time last year and my doctor's pissed at me. Hell, I'm pissed at MYSELF!! Dr. Gooden said he won't go in and repair it with mesh until I can get myself down another 50 or 60 lbs. Good luck! And you know what? As much as I love the man, the sucker will probably just have to be taken care of by someone else. It's destroying my self-esteem, looking like I'm nine months pregnant AND having regained some of my lost weight. Seriously thinking of going to a plastic surgeon and just having him lop off my pannus AND repair the hernia at the same time. Farg it. I'm sick of this s**t!
