November 2009
on November 2, 2009 11:15 am
Today is the 2nd of November and I'm happy and sad at the same time.
This is my last month of my 6 month "diet" before I can submit my info to the insurance company.
I'm happy because I want to be approved and start living the life I was meant to live but I'm sad because I'm afraid I won't be approved like my husband wasn't. (They told him he wasn't big enough long enough to have the surgery done.)
I went and took a sleep study test and I turned out to be VERY positive for sleep apnea.  They said I stopped breathing over 70 times a night (for longer than 10 seconds at a time).  I was able to get a machine to take home that I sleep with every night.  I will say that I feel SO much better during the day and not as tired at all.  I didn't realize how much sleep I was loosing until I got this machine!
My last Dr's appointment is November 23rd.  This scares me also because in your 6 month diet you are supposed to loose weight to show you can stick with a diet.  I've gained weight.  I honestly don't think it was all my fault (my milk coming in from having a baby) but the Dr put me on a VERY strict diet for the next 3 weeks.  In order to be alright for surgery I have to loose at least 20 pounds but my Dr doesn't think that is reasonable and he said as long as I can get to my starting weight, I shouldn't have a problem.  That makes me so nervous because I don't want to screw this up.  I am restricted to 1200 calories M-W-F, nothing on Tuesday's and Thursday's and 1200 on Saturday and Sunday.  Its so much harder than I thought it would be but its something I have to do if I want this surgery.  I really wish my first Dr put me on a nice diet plan so I could have lost it all gradually instead of doing 20 pounds in 3 weeks (which I don't even know if I can do.)
I've also started walking.  I have htis big hill where I live and I went walking up it on Thursday (which was trick-or-treating) and I could barly walk it.  I should be in better shape than that.  So everyday no matter rain, snow or shine, I'm going to at least walk up and down it once.  Some days I might do 2 or 3 but I'm at least going to do 1.
Well that is my venting for today.  I shall check back in after Thanksgiving and give you all the update on being approved or denied!  Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!
