My Story I'm sure my story is like many others out there. I am a soon to be 35 year old stay at home mom with 3 beautiful children. I didn't gain much weight with my first child and even got smaller after having her. I was around 120 lbs. then. I had my 2nd daughter in 2002 and that's when all the weight issues started. I gained 76 pounds during pregnancy and then a little more after I had her. In 2003 I lost 79 pounds on my own and then got pregnant with my son in 2004 and it all started over again. I lost 23 pounds from Feb. 07 to May 07. I decided to have Lapband in September. Went to the seminar and met with the doctor and had my surgery Oct. 2nd, 2007. I was not over weight as a child or thru life. in fact, I was a health and exercise freak. Being overweight these last 6 years has just killed me Mentally and physically. Making this LIFE-CHANGING decision was the best thing I have ever done for myself. Our Insurance would not cover the surgery since I was technically only 50 pounds overweight. I am so gratefull for my husband supporting me on this decision and agreeing that spending $14,000 of our money was the right thing to do. Is exact words were "IF you are not happy, WE are NOT happy" |
