Almost 4 months post op
posted on 4/10/11 6:39 pm
Hello all,

Let's see..

The numbers.  I am 233 today down from 308.

My four month post op date will be on 4/19.

The scale hasn't moved much since last month and I am trying not go crazy.  Key words are "trying not to go crazy".  :)

I am really sitting down thinking about my habits and what can I do to kick the weight loss in gear.  I may have just hit a plateau, which from my understanding is normal, but I am taking the time to think about what can I do to aide in the weight loss process.

I am working out more and with more intensity.  Early on I was able to workout usually twenty to thirty minutes usually 3 to five days a week.  I saw the weight coming off.  Note:  I am admitting that every week I didn't workout three days every week but my goal was 3 to five days a week for at least twenty to thirty minutes.  Anyways, now I am hitting it more hardcore.  I actually love it but I have to force myself to make this time for myself.  Today, I walked around a local high school track 10 times and ran up and down the bleachers.  I felt awesome when it was over.  So, my workout routine is more intense now.  I am really hoping that this will help the scale.  I am also telling myself that I have to be patient because this process takes time.

Woking out is having a positive impact on my kids.  They are losing weight.  They are pleasantly plump and they too are working out.  I love it.  I will say that "Mommie bootcamp" as I call it was not going well in the beginning but they are getting use to it.  I saw tears from both of them in the beginning of my workoouts.  Where I go they go, so they have to workout too.  They don't have to do everything that I do but they must workout at each workout session.  I am taking friends along so they can play with them while I am still working out.  This really works.

I am working on the eating too.  I am trying to force myself to eat more solid foods.  Many days good old oatmeal and potato soup is my favorite or chicken breast with tomato lettuce and pickle works too.  When I saw my doc, I mentioned to him my eating habits and what he thought was best .  I asked him if soft foods where I can eat more times a day or solid foods where I can actually eat once or twice is day is best.  He said it is okay to eat only two times a day and just drink your water and get your protein in. So, this is my plan.  Also, I can eat and drink at the same time without getting sick.  My doc said that by doing this you are pushing the food out of your stomach so you wil get hungry again very shortly.  I immediately changed that habit.  I thought it was good that I could eat and drink at the same time.  I guess not.  Smile.

Oh, in working on myself, I got an interview for a position within my company.  It is an IT Audit position with no travel.  Who would have thought something like that existed.  I really would like the opportunity as this will allow me to do what I really have a passion for IT and Audit.  Updating my resume and thinking about what value I could add to the department was a great experience.  I had to really think about my "value added".  And, guess what, I do add value.  Did I say that?  Smile.

One more thing, I went to group therapy.  It was is one of the best things I could have done.  It was really nice to talk to folks who have been where I am.  They had some great pointers and also talking about "emotional changes" was great.  This is a must for me now.

Having the support of family and friends is great.

Having the support of people who have been where you are is icing on the cake!

Have a great day all!

Sincerely,

Not a big girl.....just a thick girl getting herself together
